[name_u]Laurel[/name_u] met [name_f]Thea[/name_f] at work. It was pretty much love at first sight. Because [name_u]Laurel[/name_u] is shy, they took a little while to get together. When they had been together about six months, [name_f]Thea[/name_f] had taken a new job and missed seeing [name_u]Laurel[/name_u] as often as they used to. She asked [name_u]Laurel[/name_u] to move in with her. Two years later they were ready to start a family. They decided that [name_u]Laurel[/name_u] would be the first to carry. On their third attempt at IVF, [name_u]Laurel[/name_u] got a positive result on a pregnancy test!
[name_f]Thea[/name_f] and [name_u]Laurel[/name_u] were sitting on a bench in a park one morning when they were at around twenty weeks, watching butterflies which gave them the idea for their baby’s name: [name_f]Mariposa[/name_f].
Having settled on a first name, [name_f]Thea[/name_f] and [name_u]Laurel[/name_u] decided that they would like to honour their mothers with their first baby’s middle name. Their mothers are called [name_f]Ann[/name_f] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f], so they named their daughter [name_f]Mariposa[/name_f] [name_f]Roxanne[/name_f].
[name_f]Mariposa[/name_f] was two when [name_f]Thea[/name_f] and [name_u]Laurel[/name_u] decided to add to their family. [name_f]Thea[/name_f] wanted to carry this child. She conceived first time and had terrible morning sickness which was actually all-day sickness! She survived on ginger, which helped relieve the nausea, and apples, which were pretty much the only thing she wanted to eat! This baby was very active in the womb. They decided to give her a first name that reflects her high activity levels: [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f].
They decide to honour a male relative with their second’s middle. They decide on honouring Laurel’s grandfather, [name_u]Joseph[/name_u], so their daughter is named [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] [name_f]Jolene[/name_f].
[name_f]Thea[/name_f] gives birth with a few complications, but both she and [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] recover well. [name_f]Mariposa[/name_f] adores her new sibling!
Three years later, [name_f]Thea[/name_f] and [name_u]Laurel[/name_u] are at the beach, watching their five and three year old daughters playing in the sand. They have both started to think about having another baby, discussing who would carry if they did. “Maybe we should just wait for a sign,” [name_f]Thea[/name_f] jokes. No sooner had she said it, than their eldest walked over and arranged some dried fronds of seaweed on Laurel’s stomach, explaining that she was making a comfy bed for the new baby. So that decided that their third daughter’s name should be inspired by the beach. They settled on [name_f]Oceane[/name_f].
In the third trimester, the family were on holiday in [name_f]France[/name_f]. They met the sweetest old lady, who inspired Oceane’s middle name: [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]
Laurel’s pregnancy and birth went very smoothly. Sadly Laurel’s great aunt passed away six months later. They decide to hit the ground running and try for baby number 4 straight away, with the money she left them for this purpose. When they discover that they are having their fourth girl, they honour this treasured relative, [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u], by naming the baby [name_u]Caro[/name_u] [name_u]June[/name_u].
Again, Laurel’s pregnancy and birth is straight forward. When [name_u]Caro[/name_u] is four years old, they are both drawn to adding one last child to their family. [name_f]Thea[/name_f] would like to try carrying again with this final pregnancy. They are overjoyed, and a little alarmed, to find out that they have conceived twins through IUI. Their daughters are ecstatic, and more than a little convinced that Mummy is growing them at least one brother this time. They have the name [name_u]Luca[/name_u] picked out early on. This time, they leave genders a surprise until the birth, which is a planned C section at 37 weeks, due to medical reasons. Both babies are girls! Six sisters! They choose these names from the lists they took to the hospital. The twins are fraternal, with strawberry blonde hair. The big sisters bring [name_m]Peter[/name_m] Rabbit toys to the hospital for the twins to snuggle. [name_f]Mariposa[/name_f] & [name_f]Oceane[/name_f] help name the older twin, settling on [name_f]Lucasta[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]. The second baby’s first name, [name_f]Trixie[/name_f], is chosen by [name_u]Caro[/name_u]. When driving the babies home from the hospital, a bevvy of swans fly overhead, inspiring Trixie’s middle name: [name_u]Swan[/name_u].
[name_f]Thea[/name_f] & Laurel’s family is complete. They have 6 daughters:
