I guess it’s ok, but I always think of the word sch-long – so it’s not a positive for me :frowning:

The [name]Grey[/name]'s Anatomy character [name]Mark[/name] [name]Sloane[/name] goes by his last name. With a big pop culture reference like that (not that a boy [name]Sloan[/name] would be automatically associated or anything), I think that means it’s still fine for boys.

[name]Sloan[/name] is definitely usable on a boy. The name really isn’t feminine at all.

I agree with you. [name]Sloan[/name] is boys name and Sloaneis girls name. My cousin is named [name]Sloane[/name] and she fits perfectly.

[name]Sloan[/name] would be awful on a girl, great on a boy.

I’m not a fan in general so that’s what I chose, but I still think it’s usable on a boy.

This name just screams girl to me for some reason. I personally wouldn’t use it on a boy.

I think it’s still very usable on a boy. It seems pretty neutral as far as gender is concerned these days–I hear more about it on girls, but I still think it’s very usable for boys. My strongest association was [name]Arvin[/name] [name]Sloan[/name] from Alias, too, so I always thought it was masculine, until I kept hearing it on here, and I’m slowly starting to appreciate it for girls. I do prefer the [name]Sloane[/name] spelling for either gender, though.

[name]Sloan[/name] is the name of a all-male rock band in [name]Canada[/name], for what its worth. But when I hear [name]Sloan[/name] for a name, I think girl. I blame the fact that it was the name of [name]Ferris[/name] [name]Bueller[/name]'s girlfriend.

Hmm this is not going as well as i wanted it too. Lol

I’ve only ever heard this name used twice, both on tv (LOL). The first time was a male on a reality tv show. The second was a female on an HBO dramedy. Because of this, I do see the name being unisex, but I much prefer it as a boy’s name.

I’ve never heard that it was feminine. It sounds completely masculine to me. If it ever was used by a girl it must have been one of those ‘[name]Henri[/name]’ kinda deals where someone thought it was cute.
