Can you provide the surname or a substitute surname? I’m having a hard time with this name just on it’s own, but I have a feeling the surname makes a difference

I really liked it at once. It made me like [name_f]Esme[/name_f] more than I otherwise did. I like it with the last name too.
I love, love [name_f]Esme[/name_f] and it is lovely with your last name! I don’t know how I would classify [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] but I like them.

I’m not a fan. Esmé sounds a little pretentious yet hollow to me, and unless you live in a place where accents on words is common, she would face so much trouble with the accent over the e. [name_u]Wren[/name_u] is nice but I don’t particularly like it in this combo.
It doesn’t really sound lively or spunky to me- [name_u]Wren[/name_u] reminds me of a quiet girl who loves reading and walking in the woods, while [name_f]Esme[/name_f] just feels blank to me.
I feel like this post sounds very harsh. I couldn’t really think of a way to make it not sound that way 
If you really like the name then who am I to discourage it?

Two very pretty names, and it’s so lovely with your surname! I think more lively? [name_f]Esme[/name_f] seems sweet, kind, wise, and a little reserved to me, so I wouldn’t really call her spunky OR lively. She hides in the family library with a book and climbs trees and befriends squirrels and practices for her piano lessons faithfully (a real labor of love. 
). In my mind, anyway! She’s really lovely.
I really like it, especially now you’ve given your surname. I think a short, sweet, bright combo like Esmé [name_u]Wren[/name_u] is perfect with your longer surname. I find it both lively and spunky, but with plenty of sweetness too.

Esme has got to be one of the most beautiful names. Of course, I love the Z sound.

To me, lively and spunky are the same thing. [name_f]Esme[/name_f] to me sounds sophisticated and modern and intelligent.
