I have [name_m]Smoke[/name_m] super low on my list of every random name I can think of that vaguely sounds cool, but I would loathe to use it on a child. [name_m]Smoke[/name_m] is not a positive thing in pretty much any context I can think of. [name_m]Hemingway[/name_m] is fun! It reminds me of the author, of course, but also the Friends episode where [name_u]Chandler[/name_u] proposes he and [name_f]Monica[/name_f] name their baby little [name_m]Hemingway[/name_m] [name_m]Bing[/name_m].

This is an actual named child and we each have different likes/dislikes so I am trying to be nice.
But…. Oh goodness. I looked it up to see if there was a reason behind it and got as far as a “names we are considering” video. They were legitimately considering Yeehaw, friends. So I’ll just chalk this up to a typical Influencer antic and wish the boy well in his life.
(Hemingway wouldn’t have been terrible. Maybe a bit pretentious sounding but I’d rather be named [name_m]Hemingway[/name_m] than Smoke.)

I just looked up that video and honestly I left it kind of inspired by the crazy word names (I’ve always loved the idea of [name_f]Memory[/name_f] for a sweet baby girl) . . . But some of them were definitely not to my taste.

Now, don’t get me wrong, [name_u]Harvest[/name_u] [name_u]Rain[/name_u] and [name_u]Everest[/name_u] [name_u]Snow[/name_u] are beyond cool, and I love the name Forest… but… [name_u]Forest[/name_u] [name_u]Fire[/name_u]. I actually like the sound of [name_m]Smoke[/name_m] (its very similar to Oak) however it is associated with so many negatives I would never use it. I actually think I wouldve liked it a little more if they had went with [name_u]Smokey[/name_u]. At least the bear is a positive thing.
[name_m]Hemingway[/name_m] I have no problem with.

I’m of what appears to be the very unpopular opinion that [name_m]Smoke[/name_m] is an ok name. I didn’t think of cigarettes until someone in this thread pointed it out.
