We plan to honor my husband’s late father with one of our children - [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] for a girl (his birthday is in [name_u]July[/name_u]), and will use either [name_u]Kim[/name_u], [name_m]Salvatore[/name_m], or [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] for a boy (his dad’s FN, MN, or Greek Orthodox name).
However, it is very important to me that we honor my dad, as well. His name is [name_u]Danny[/name_u] [name_m]David[/name_m]. I would also love to honor my [name_f]MIL[/name_f] because she is such an amazing woman. Her name is [name_f]Sherry[/name_f] [name_u]Lynn[/name_u].
So, what do you think of [name_u]Sheridan[/name_u] as an honor name for my dad/[name_f]MIL[/name_f]? I would use it as a MN, most likely. Does it work or is it cheesy? Any other suggestions? I am open to names that honor just one parent (i.e. [name_f]Danielle[/name_f]) as well.
Thanks!
I think [name_u]Sheridan[/name_u] makes for a nice, subtle nod to both parents you wish to honour while still giving your daughter a individual name of her own. I love the idea!
S/O and I plan on doing similar by using [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] - his grandmother was an [name_f]Anna[/name_f], my maternal grandmother’s middle name is [name_f]Anne[/name_f], and my paternal grandmother was a [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f]. [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] is a Scottish name meaning “beautiful”. [name_f]Belle[/name_f] also means beautiful, so it honours both in the way [name_u]Sheridan[/name_u] does for you
(Also added bonus for [name_f]Belle[/name_f] being [name_m]French[/name_m], as my paternal grandmother was from [name_m]Quebec[/name_m] and was raised in a [name_m]French[/name_m] speaking home until she was 12).
I think it is great! I actually know a woman named [name_u]Sheridan[/name_u]. It would make a lovely, spunky, meaningful first or middle for your family. I love that it honors two people. Good luck
[name_u]Sheridan[/name_u] is an awesome way to honor your dad and mil. I love the meaning(searcher)
[name_f]Sherry[/name_f] [name_u]Lynn[/name_u]: [name_f]Sherlyn[/name_f] . Shealynn / Shaylynn / [name_f]Shaelyn[/name_f] etc . Shanlyn . [name_u]Shannen[/name_u]/ [name_u]Shannon[/name_u]
Dalyn / Danilyn
[name_u]Danny[/name_u] [name_m]David[/name_m]: [name_m]Davian[/name_m] . [name_u]Davin[/name_u] . [name_f]Davina[/name_f] . Daviana . [name_f]Danika[/name_f] . [name_f]Darlyn[/name_f]
I love [name_u]Sheridan[/name_u] on its own but even moreso for u with all the meaning behind it.
I think [name_u]Sheridan[/name_u] totally works. You could also use [name_f]Linda[/name_f], from [name_u]Lynn[/name_u] and the “da” in both [name_u]Danny[/name_u] and [name_m]David[/name_m].
I love it, I think you did a good job of coming up with something that is a name while including everything you required.
[name_u]Sheridan[/name_u] is really nice. It’s a smoosh name that doesn’t sound ridiculous, too. I like [name_u]Sheridan[/name_u], and I say go for it.
I know a [name_u]Sheridan[/name_u] so the name feels usable and it’s perfect for honoring them both. I say you found a perfect gem, not too cheesy at all.
