Alright, so no joke — I legit just had to help my grandmother get a live bird out of our house. Everything was fine and we ended up having to open one of the old stained glass windows in the living room (that I totally forgot were even capable of being opened) in order to help coax the little bird out of the house and into the backyard because we didn’t want to try to grab it and end up inadvertently hurting it.
[name_m]Long[/name_m] story short — it worked!
Anyway, this whole situation gave me random thoughts about bird names (obviously). So, tell me, what are some bird-related names that you like? You know, other than the obvious choice of darling [name_f]Birdie[/name_f].
I’ll go first — [name_f]Aviana[/name_f] and [name_f]Dove[/name_f]
@whimsyberry : Lol, thanks! The little thing took a few minutes to figure out what we were trying to help it do, but it got there in the end.
From your choices, I’m liking [name_f]Lark[/name_f] and [name_f]Wren[/name_f], as well as [name_f]Arden[/name_f] (I also think of this as a Shakespeare-related name).
I also realize that [name_m]Robin[/name_m] is gender-neutral name (like the late actor [name_m]Robin[/name_m] [name_m]Williams[/name_m] or the female character [name_m]Robin[/name_m] in How I Met Your Mother). However, I always think of [name_m]Robin[/name_m] Hood when I hear the moniker.
Sweet Paloma is my favorite
I’m also find of:
Nightingale
Rook
Zipporah
Opa
Finch / Rosefinch
Lark
Alouette
Wren
Dove
Falcon
Aquila
Iona
*Edit cause I forgot about Robin!
I love the ones you mentioned!
Others:

[name_f]Avia[/name_f]
[name_m]Bluejay[/name_m]
[name_f]Starling[/name_f]
[name_f]Corvina[/name_f]
[name_m]Orev[/name_m]
[name_m]Peregrine[/name_m]
[name_m]Phoenix[/name_m]
[name_f]Kestrel[/name_f]
[name_m]Ezio[/name_m]
@sammaegre All these birdies make for such great names! And [name_f]Nightingale[/name_f], [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m], [name_m]Sparrow[/name_m] and [name_f]Starling[/name_f] are all darling!
@AerieEerie I’m really liking [name_m]Bluejay[/name_m], [name_f]Corvina[/name_f] and [name_f]Kestrel[/name_f]. And I almost forgot the vivid [name_m]Phoenix[/name_m]! :fire:
Honestly, I feel like the majority of bird-related names can work for either a girl or boy.
[name_f]Alouette[/name_f] has been a long time guilty pleasure, also like [name_m]Robin[/name_m], [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m], [name_m]Sparrow[/name_m], and [name_f]Lark[/name_f]
[name_f]Lærke[/name_f] is my favorite! The [name_f]English[/name_f] [name_f]Lark[/name_f] is just as lovely though. I’m also a fan of [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m] and [name_f]Wren[/name_f], and I love [name_m]Adler[/name_m], [name_f]Aquila[/name_f], and [name_m]Jonas[/name_m] for boys.
@Greyblue Thank you! I was slightly concerned because I’ve heard stories of people having birds get stuck in their home and it taking hours to get them out. We were lucky.
[name_f]Deryn[/name_f], [name_f]Halcyon[/name_f] and [name_f]Alondra[/name_f] are all great! [name_f]My[/name_f] grandfather’s name is [name_m]Merle[/name_m]! Although, he spells it [name_m]Mearl[/name_m].
And all of your actual birdies are lovely. I particularly like [name_f]Lark[/name_f], [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m] and [name_f]Wren[/name_f].
@ashthedreamer I love [name_f]Lærke[/name_f]! And yes, the [name_f]English[/name_f] [name_f]Lark[/name_f] is just as sweet. And [name_m]Adler[/name_m] is amazing, too!
And @rhodes2nowhere I agree. [name_f]Kestrel[/name_f] has started to grow on me. It kinda reminds me of Kestra Troi-Riker, [name_f]Deanna[/name_f] and Will’s daughter in the newer ST: TNG spin-off [name_m]Picard[/name_m].
