Me and my boyfriend are expecting a baby (my second and his first). We just found out a few weeks ago that baby is a girl. Her big sister is named [name_u]Harper[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]. This is my list of baby girl names and what I like about them.
[name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] - I have loved this name since my first pregnancy. [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] is my middle name and [name_f]Margot[/name_f] is a beautiful name.
[name_f]Laurel[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] - I have loved [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] since my first pregnancy too, and before I was even pregnant. I’m not too sure about [name_f]Kate[/name_f] for the middle name though. Need help with that.
[name_f]Layla[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] - [name_f]Layla[/name_f] had been on my mind a lot before I found out I was pregnant and it’s still been on my mind. I think it’s absolutely gorgeous and I love the name [name_u]Wren[/name_u] for a middle name.
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Jade[/name_f] - I’ve been seeing my late grandma’s name lately - and I keep seeing pictures of her with me whenever I go to look at my baby pictures. The first part of her name is [name_f]Rose[/name_f] so [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is special. I love [name_f]Jade[/name_f] - it’s pretty but short.
[name_u]Remi[/name_u] [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] - I recently heard the name [name_u]Remi[/name_u] and I love it. It’s cute but short and I love the flow of [name_u]Remi[/name_u] [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]. I don’t really have many connections for the name but I like how it sounds altogether.
[name_f]Lorelai[/name_f] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] - [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] is my middle name, and yes I love [name_m]Gilmore[/name_m] Girls. That didn’t really influence my liking of the entire name though. I think it being spelled [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] would be way too many E’s for me.
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] - This name has been on my baby name list for a long time now. I love both names, but I don’t really have much of a connection to them.
The names are ranked from favorite to least favorite. Can you help me with modifying these names and give me opinions on the names? I’m stuck on which ones to cross off my list and which ones to keep!
All of these names are beautiful!!! I can see why you’re having difficulty narrowing down your list.
I honestly can’t even pick a favorite but I did think that [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] and [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] could even swap names… I think [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] and [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f] also sound nice.
I’ll be honest I’m not totally feeling [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]. I like the name but if you’re saying [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] and [name_u]Harper[/name_u] together my brain goes to [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] and [name_m]Hardy[/name_m] which were the last names of a famous comedy duo… they got their start over 60 years before I was even born and I still know who they are so I’m sure maybe other people might make that connection? I mean it’s not as likely since they’re far removed from current pop culture but it’s possible.
[name_f]Layla[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Jade[/name_f] are so sweet. I could see either one as a sister to [name_u]Harper[/name_u].
I love the sound and look of [name_u]Remi[/name_u], especially spelled with an i. I definitely don’t mean to be offensive at all but when I see it spelled with a y I think of the alcohol, the rapper, and then the Disney character in that order.
I’m also a huge [name_m]Gilmore[/name_m] Girls fan and while I like the name [name_f]Lorelai[/name_f], I like [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] paired with [name_f]Margot[/name_f] or [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] better.
One more thing I just thought of is that [name_u]Harper[/name_u] and [name_f]Margot[/name_f] start with the same first rhyming syllable (Har and [name_f]Mar[/name_f])… totally not a big deal I just thought I’d point it out in case that bothers you. It’s just a connection they share which you might see as a good thing or a bad thing (or be neutral!)
I’m currently feeling the combination of [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f] with [name_u]Harper[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] but I liked all of the combinations you provided!! Good luck with your decision!
Those are all great names, and most of them even mix-and-match well together!
I love the idea of [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] to honor your beloved grandmother. It also kind of combines the sounds of her name and yours, and then linking them to your daughter as well. ([name_m]Just[/name_m] wondering, is your mother’s name an option to incorporate somehow, given the combo of yours and your grandmother’s names?)
Would you consider:
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Layla[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
Or [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f], and you could call her [name_u]Remi[/name_u] for short if you want?
I think [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f] nn [name_u]Remi[/name_u] is a brilliant suggestion!!! It honors [name_f]Rose[/name_f], has [name_u]Leigh[/name_u], albeit spelled differently, has your favorite name, and [name_u]Remi[/name_u]! I love it!
Your names are all beautiful! I also have a personal connection to a grandmother [name_f]Rose[/name_f] so I definitely am biased towards [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] as a name! I agree with the above posters - [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Margo[/name_f] would be such a lovely combo.
[name_f]Margo[/name_f] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] is super cute and spunky and it seems like you love it a lot. [name_u]Harper[/name_u] and [name_f]Margo[/name_f] go well together as sisters!
Although I like [name_f]Laurel[/name_f], it has a very different vibe than [name_u]Harper[/name_u] to me. Not my favorite on the list.
[name_f]Layla[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] is absolutely adorable and would make the cutest sister to [name_u]Harper[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]! [name_f]Layla[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] would be a great combo also.
[name_u]Remi[/name_u] [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] is cute, but not my favorite.
I love [name_f]Lorelai[/name_f], especially this spelling! I quite like the alliteratio of [name_f]Lorelai[/name_f] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u]. Not sure I picture a [name_f]Lorelai[/name_f] as [name_u]Harper[/name_u]'s sister though.
I like [name_f]Stella[/name_f] but I’m not sure about the flow of this name. Maybe [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u]? However, it seems like you aren’t in love with it, so you could probably take it off the list to help narrow it down a bit.
I think [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is a lovely option to honor both your grandmother, [name_f]Rose[/name_f], as well as yourself, in [name_u]Leigh[/name_u]. As [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] doesn’t pair so well with nature-y [name_u]Wren[/name_u] or [name_f]Laurel[/name_f], and you’re not so sure on [name_f]Kate[/name_f], I think [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f] or [name_f]Layla[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] would be perfect combos for you, that both fit well with sister [name_u]Harper[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]. If the namesakes aren’t absolutely necessary for you, [name_f]Layla[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f] would also be lovely.
While they are very nice names, I think you could probably cut the last three combos from your list, just because you haven’t any real connection or absolute adoration for them, as you do the others. That would help narrow things down quite a bit. If you cut them and then find you’re still thinking about one in particular, you could try adding it to a true favourite ([name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f] would make for a lovely combo, for example).
So many lovely names! [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Jade[/name_f] is probably my fave, followed by [name_f]Layla[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] and [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u]
I like most of your names except I’m afraid I really dislike [name_f]Laurel[/name_f], [name_f]Lorelai[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]. [name_f]Laura[/name_f] is smarter than [name_f]Laurel[/name_f]; [name_f]Lorelai[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] are fussy, frilly names that seem entirely different to the streamlined unisex [name_u]Harper[/name_u], so would seem very odd as sisters. [name_f]Rose[/name_f] however is lovely and would work as a first name or middle.
I like these in this order:
[name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] - this is good, a great combo, and [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] for her mum. I love [name_f]Margot[/name_f] as [name_u]Harper[/name_u]'s sister.
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] - this works well and has a feistiness to it. I prefer [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] as a first name though -
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] would work. If it was [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] first, then it would be my first
choice.
[name_u]Remi[/name_u] [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] - a good combo, and [name_u]Remi[/name_u] sounds good as [name_u]Harper[/name_u]'s sister.
[name_f]Layla[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] - good combo, nice names.
I would add [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] as an option.
Thank you guys for all of the suggestions so far! After ready everything and looking through the list, I have crossed off the names I don’t like the most and couldn’t see her having which are: [name_f]Lorelai[/name_f] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u], [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Bridget[/name_f], and [name_u]Remi[/name_u] [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f].
I have these names left to think about for awhile now: [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u], [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f], [name_f]Layla[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u], and possibly [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. I don’t know why but I always though I’d use [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] for one of my babies but I’m shocked how the tables have turned. I feel like I’m leaning towards [name_f]Margot[/name_f] and [name_f]Layla[/name_f] the most. I might even modify the middle name and see what I can come up with to honor my grandmother.
I really appreciate all of the help so far! It has been a huge help and I look forward to seeing more!
[name_u]Harper[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and…
[name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] - [name_f]Margot[/name_f] is a beautiful name, and is on my middle list as an honour for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]. [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] is okay and the flow between them is lovely. Very different feel to [name_u]Harper[/name_u], though that’s not necessarily a bad thing
[name_f]Laurel[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] - [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] feels like a funky alternative to [name_f]Laura[/name_f]. I like it. [name_f]Kate[/name_f] feels a little dull in the middle name if you have no association with it. [name_u]Harper[/name_u] and [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] sound like they were supposed to be together. For some reason the combination feels familiar, as if they are a celebrity pair
[name_f]Layla[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] - I dont mind [name_f]Layla[/name_f], and like this spelling, as its clear how to pronounce it. I love [name_u]Wren[/name_u] in the middle spot
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Jade[/name_f] - I love [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], as it’s one of my top names too, and I like the family association, while still giving her a first name you love. While I’m not really a fan of [name_f]Jade[/name_f], it sounds good with [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_u]Remi[/name_u] [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] - Does sound like a nice combination. [name_u]Remi[/name_u] sounds too much like a nickname for my tastes though
[name_f]Lorelai[/name_f] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] - [name_f]Lorelai[/name_f] is nice, but I dont like how it sounds as with [name_u]Leigh[/name_u]. It’s a hit too repetitive
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] - This is nice, but seems quite harsh compared to tour other names. [name_u]Harper[/name_u] and [name_f]Stella[/name_f] are cute though
Well, of those you’ve narrowed it down to, [name_f]Layla[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] is my favourite, followed by [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f], due to your love of [name_f]Margot[/name_f] and the important namesake. I don’t mind [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] (though do prefer your Laurel Kate combo), though I don’t feel that [name_u]Harper[/name_u] & [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] pair as well as others on your list do.
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f] is absolutely beautiful, and I love the way [name_u]Harper[/name_u] and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] pair together: they’re quite distinct sound-wise but stylistically feel like they’re in the same category.
[name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u]: both names have a strong tough look to me, so I think the name does not look feminine enough. Maybe [name_f]Margo[/name_f] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u]?
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f]: lovely, and it’s nice that [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] honors your grandma.
[name_f]Layla[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u]: my favorite of these four options. I think it feels modern but substantial, and pairs well with [name_u]Harper[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f].
[name_f]Laurel[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]: too floral maybe? Also I liked [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]! I actually have [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] on my list haha. I also really like the combo [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]
I love your list!
My favorite combinations are [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f] and [name_f]Layla[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u]. I really like the set [name_u]Harper[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] & [name_f]Layla[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u]! The combination [name_f]Layla[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] is modern, sweet and fresh. At the same time, [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f] sounds adorable and sofisticated. Both options are lovely!
I love [name_f]Margot[/name_f] as a first name! What about [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]? I think [name_u]Harper[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] & [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] are stunning names for sisters.
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Jade[/name_f] is an amazing name too! From your initial list, [name_f]Stella[/name_f] is a beautiful first name. I also adore the previous suggestions of [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] and [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Laurel[/name_f]. [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Jade[/name_f] and [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Jade[/name_f] would great options as well!
