We have a 1 year old bassett hound named [name]Rosie[/name] (well she is “[name]Rose[/name]” officially but she’s referred to as [name]Rosie[/name] mainly). Our new baby, [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Olivia[/name], has many nicknames already but mostly people call her [name]Josie[/name]. I find it darling and its a family name that I [name]LOVE[/name] and was thrilled to be able to use but its getting confusing with the rhyming names in our house.
My mother, in particular, cannot keep it straight. She specifically asked us to change the dogs name b/c she is horrified at calling the baby “[name]Rosie[/name]” by accident. I really didn’t see it being such a big deal until yesterday when my husband was trying to get the baby to look for a picture and started calling out “[name]Josie[/name]! [name]Josie[/name]!” and the dog came bolting down the steps looking for a treat. :?
I know the dog would take to a new name easily – it may take us awhile to get used to calling her by her new name but since she is still young and will likely be around until our baby is a pre-teen, I feel like it would be worth making a change.
Would you change the dog’s name? What would you suggest to call her instead of [name]Rosie[/name]?
