still obsessing over girls names…nothing seems right. I find out what I am having on the 18th but I think it is a girl. girl names are so hard for me…i really don’t like anything super girly or feminine and I want something slightly spunky yet still would work on an adult. I also don’t mind unisex names (i know most people on here don’t like them though) My fave name is [name]Romy[/name] but my husband absolutely hates it so it is definitely out along with [name]Remy[/name], [name]Rory[/name] and [name]Romilly[/name]. Any name that i find that I think would work - he has some dumb reason why we cannot use it. The middle name will either be [name]Juliet[/name] or [name]Jane[/name]. We have 2 boys - [name]Dash[/name] [name]Harrison[/name] and [name]Mack[/name] [name]Vincent[/name] so I would like a girls name to fit in with them. My current “maybe” list…but nothing seems totally right.
[name]Campbell[/name] - probably the front runner right now
[name]Ansley[/name]/[name]Ainsley[/name] - too common? too 1984?
[name]Calla[/name] - I have a dog [name]Allie[/name] so the nickname [name]Callie[/name] is out.
[name]Lainey[/name] - too little girly?
[name]Waverly[/name] - my husband hates bc apparently the Cubs baseball stadium is at this intersection.
[name]Noa[/name] - its growing on me
I swear I have read every single name book and website but i just can’t commit to one of these names…any suggestions along these lines? should i just stop looking…i never stopped looking when my youngest was born and we had 25 names to choose from at the hospital. it was horrible. We already have a boy name picked if it is boy number 3 - i don’t want a repeat bad naming process again.
Looking at the names of your sons, I would try to choose a name with one syllable as a first name and a two or three syllable name for the middle spot. [name]Noa[/name] would be the best choice out of your list since it would follow the pattern. [name]Noa[/name] [name]Campbell[/name] maybe? Though I’m not a fan of [name]Noa[/name], I do like that combination. I wish you goodluck.
I don’t think [name]Ainsley[/name] is too 80s at all. I think it’s beautiful.
As for [name]Lainey[/name], I would give her a more formal name and call her [name]Lainey[/name]. Maybe [name]Elena[/name]/[name]Elaina[/name]? That way, if she thinks it’s too little girly when she’s a teen, she has the option of going by her full name.
Hey-we appear to have some similar names on our lists so thought I would throw in my ten cents worth! I like [name]Campbell[/name] and [name]Noa[/name]. Other names on my list are [name]Cleo[/name], [name]Lola[/name], [name]Freya[/name] and [name]Phoebe[/name]. (I think they have a spunky feel but not overly feminine)…
[name]Hadley[/name] and [name]Hayden[/name] were both on my list but my hubby vetoed them.
From your list I think [name]Lane[/name], nn [name]Laney[/name], would be wonderful as a sister to [name]Dash[/name] and [name]Mack[/name]. I am just really liking another one syllable name and I think there’s a lot of directions you could take it. [name]Even[/name] just [name]Belle[/name] from [name]Campbell[/name] would sound good. [name]Sage[/name] and [name]Page[/name] come to mind. I do like [name]Noa[/name] and [name]Campbell[/name] best from your list but others could work. [name]Ainsley[/name] is nice.
I love the gritty glamor of [name]Dash[/name] and [name]Mack[/name]. Makes me think of a cool 20s speakeasy. There are some great monosyllabic, unisex names in that vein–
[name]Campbell[/name] - probably the front runner right now- Not a big fan of [name]Campbell[/name]. I know one, and she finds it a bit frustrating. Her last and first names are often switched by mistake. I also think it’s a bit too soupy and I don’t really care for the harsh sound.
[name]Ansley[/name]/[name]Ainsley[/name] - too common? too 1984?- Very blah to me. I’m quite tired of [name]Ainsley[/name], Ailey, [name]Hailey[/name], [name]Bailey[/name], [name]Kaylee[/name], [name]Kylie[/name], [name]Miley[/name], [name]Riley[/name], and all the other -lees. This name is very likely to sound dated in the future.
[name]Calla[/name] - I have a dog [name]Allie[/name] so the nickname [name]Callie[/name] is out. - She doesn’t need to be [name]Callie[/name], [name]Calla[/name] is beautiful and short enough. Probably my favorite here.
[name]Lainey[/name] - too little girly?- Not at all. I don’t think a girl’s name can be too “girly.” Frilly or cutesy, maybe, but not girly. I think [name]Lainey[/name] works much better as a nickname, though. It doesn’t sound as adult as [name]Lane[/name] or [name]Elena[/name] or [name]Milena[/name] or [name]Elaine[/name]. So if you’re open to using it as a nickname, I think it’s a great option, but if you want it as a given name only I’d say it’s too cutesy.
[name]Waverly[/name] - my husband hates bc apparently the Cubs baseball stadium is at this intersection. - That’s a little weird. I’m neutral on this one. Not my favorite, but I don’t hate it either.
[name]Noa[/name] - its growing on me. - I love [name]Noa[/name]. It’s a fantastic name, one of my own favorites. My only concern for you is how it sounds with [name]Dash[/name] and [name]Mack[/name] (I love those names, by the way.) For some reason, it seems like [name]Noa/name would be another brother in that sibset. It’s kind of an irrational reason, though, so I still think it’s a good option.
Also- would your husband consider [name]Rosemary[/name] or [name]Aurora[/name], nn [name]Romy[/name] or [name]Rory[/name]? That could work as a compromise. And some other suggestions:
[name]Quinn[/name]
[name]Leah[/name]
[name]Harper[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name]
[name]Willow[/name]
[name]Brenna[/name]
[name]Sarai[/name]
[name]Tamar[/name]
[name]Hadley[/name]
[name]Autumn[/name]
[name]Rose[/name]
[name]Brynn[/name]
[name]Cora[/name]
I vote [name]Sage[/name] or [name]Jade[/name]. All the names on your list don’t really seem to fit with [name]Dash[/name] and [name]Mack[/name] in my opinion.
[name]Ah[/name] you sound like me lol. Seems like you really want [name]Romy[/name] or another R name. I agree with you, it seems perfect. Too bad your husbamd isnt on board. Maybe after delivery he’ll givein? Lol
[name]Ansley[/name] is my favorite from your list. No, [name]Calla[/name] is but with a pet [name]Allie[/name]? Um probably not so my 2nd fav is [name]Ansley[/name]. I disagree with previous poster. I dont think its the same at all as [name]Hailey[/name], [name]Bailey[/name], [name]Riley[/name] etc…i think its a lovely choice and I have hardly heard it used. Absolutely lovely
I love [name]Ainsley[/name], [name]Calla[/name] and [name]Waverly[/name] (which is on my list as well). I think just about anything on your list goes with the boys. Not a fan of [name]Noa[/name] or [name]Campbell[/name] but that’s just me. (I think soup with [name]Campbell[/name]).
I’m not a great suggester of names, as lots of berries are, but since [name]Waverly[/name] (which is kind of unusual) is on your list as it is mine, here are my other short list names and a few that I have ruled out but still like, along your lines;
[name]How[/name] about [name]Wren[/name]? It has the “r” beginning sound like [name]Romy[/name] but such a sweet little bird goes nicely for a little girl. And it goes well with [name]Dash[/name] & [name]Mack[/name] I think.
I also like [name]Rowan[/name] for you, but not sure if hubby would veto that one.
