I can totally understand why you’re upset, but if you really love the name and saw it for your son, I would still go with it! This devastated feeling will be temporary, and soon your son will be here to wear the name you love into the world for the rest of his life. I think the latter is waaaaay more important than a few people you’ve never met, or when or how some people found out the name.
Do you think you’d regret NOT calling him [name_m]Elijah[/name_m]? I would hate to look at my son later on and think- well, you should have been [name_m]Elijah[/name_m], but some people found out early, so I had to change it. I would just stick with the name your heart chooses, and eventually you’ll forget this short-term disappointment.
(For me, any time something with my pregnancy hasn’t gone according to plan (i.e., pregnancy timing, COVID, etc.), I tell myself it’s training for parenting when nothing goes according to plan, haha. But I just gotta stick with my instincts, lean into the big things that matter or bring me joy, and let the other stuff slip away.)
That being said, if you take some time to think about it and still feel inclined to pick a new name, I first thought of [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] and some other soft yet solid Biblical boy names that feel fresh right now:
Caleb
[name_u]Ellis[/name_u]
[name_u]Ezra[/name_u]
[name_u]Jonah[/name_u]
[name_m]Silas[/name_m]
[name_m]Isaac[/name_m]
[name_m]Isaiah[/name_m]
[name_m]Josiah[/name_m]
[name_m]Jeremiah[/name_m]
[name_u]Micah[/name_u]
[name_u]Noah[/name_u]
