First of all thank you to everyone that replied to part 1 of my posting a few months ago.
I’m so excited to tell you guys I’m pregnant again and due in Feb, been waiting to post as I had some early bleeds and needed any early scan to confirm everything was ok and in the right place. Scan confirmed heartbeat and baby in the uterus but a bit small for dates so I’m still a bit nervous but other than extreme tiredness I am feeling crazy healthy and being positive.
[name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] will be 19 months old when this little one arrives!
Looking back over my first post I realised that I am going about this naming this wrong way, [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u]'s name is full of meaning and the meaning of this baby’s name is most important.
So I have a new list of considerations:
Positive meaning - this baby will be named after my Mum, she is everything to me, best friend, guide , teacher, strong female role model, partner in crime- you name it! For example: My son ([name_u]Sawyer[/name_u]) is named after my brother who is a tree surgeon and the meaning (wood cutter) is the way we honoured him. I would like to honour my Mum in a similar way.
Top contenders at the moment remain:
[name_u]Layne[/name_u]
[name_u]Jude[/name_u]
I would like to avoid initial D, S and H (sadly had to let go of [name_m]Hart[/name_m], [name_u]Harley[/name_u], [name_m]Heath[/name_m])
C is a bit of an issue initial, my Dad is [name_m]Colin[/name_m] [name_u]Max[/name_u] and don’t want any connection to him, used to like [name_m]Cole[/name_m] until I realised it sounds like Col which is sometimes used for my dad. But would consider a C initial for something with the right meaning.
We are not religious people so don’t usually think about
anything too biblical but meaning is top consideration at the moment.
In general we would prefer a name that not too common in the UK ( I know [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] is more known in the US but here it’s rare), we seem to like softer names but I’m just excited to see what names with great meanings you can come up with if this baby is a boy and we name him in hour of my Mum.
In case it helps my Mum is [name_f]Sue[/name_f] ([name_f]Susan[/name_f]), middle names will be [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] after my 2 closest male influences and role models.
I love the meaning behind [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] for you! I hope I can help. What are the ties behind [name_u]Layne[/name_u] and [name_u]Jude[/name_u] to your mother?
What about these?
[name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] and…
[name_f]Sue[/name_f] means [name_f]Lily[/name_f] - [name_u]Florian[/name_u] (M) [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] or [name_m]Florin[/name_m] [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] - Flowering/Flourishing
Oh I love [name_u]Jude[/name_u]! And “soft” boy names on general. [name_m]Hart[/name_m] is one of my very top boy names - too bad about the initials! Here are some ideas:
[name_m]Jonah[/name_m] - dove
[name_m]Eben[/name_m] - stone of help
[name_m]Wesley[/name_m] - west meadow
[name_m]Abel[/name_m] - breath; the good brother in [name_u]Genesis[/name_u]
[name_u]Auden[/name_u] - old friend
[name_m]Asher[/name_m] - happy
[name_u]Jesse[/name_u] - gift
[name_u]Dorian[/name_u] - gift
[name_u]River[/name_u]
[name_u]Layne[/name_u] was a suggestion from my husband, I like that it links earth/grounded with adventure/ invitation to explore the future. A bit like the ‘parent giving you roots and wings’ idea.
[name_u]Jude[/name_u] means praised and I love that generally the message is that my Mum is wonderful/should be praised for who she is and everything she has done.
I’m looking for names that have positive associations like:
[name_m]Friend[/name_m]
teacher
Guide
Mentor
Centre of my life
Loved/ beloved
[name_u]Lucky[/name_u] ( we are lucky to have her)
Blessed
Strong
E.g. [name_m]Atlas[/name_m], [name_m]Zeus[/name_m], [name_m]Guy[/name_m], [name_m]Peter[/name_m] - these have been ruled out as too out there or too common
I’m not too concerned about the baby’s name being directly linked to her name as such - [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] and [name_m]Ross[/name_m] do not have any link on paper but [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] is named after my brother [name_m]Ross[/name_m] who is a tree surgeon or ‘wood cutter’ (get it?)
In an ideal world the name would be soft around the edges, like a brushed cotton blanket, warm from lying on the grass and smelling of sun kissed skin and fresh soap - if that helps those of you that need imagery for inspiration
My favourite from your list is [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], closely followed by [name_m]Ezra[/name_m]!
Thanks so much for taking the time to reply, I will be talking to hubby about these xxx
Some great ideas! I really like [name_m]Jonah[/name_m] and [name_m]Abel[/name_m] but feel like hubby has vetoed a few times, will go back to him on that one. Already have an [name_m]Eben[/name_m] in the family, [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] has some bad associations, sorry but I’m not a fan of [name_u]Auden[/name_u] and [name_m]BIL[/name_m] is [name_u]Ashley[/name_u] so avoiding [name_u]Ash[/name_u] names.
[name_u]Jesse[/name_u] is one of hubby’s faves so will think on that again after your suggestion, [name_u]Dorian[/name_u] and [name_u]River[/name_u] are new ideas and particularly liking [name_u]River[/name_u], same vibe as [name_u]Layne[/name_u] to me, giving life, path, forging a way through. [name_m]Will[/name_m] definitely be thinking on that one. thank you so much xxx
