Sojourner

[name_f]Sojourner[/name_f] is a bit out there, even for me, but I’d like to hear everyone’s opinions. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it would be appropriative to use it on a white girl? [name_f]Sojourner[/name_f] [name_u]Truth[/name_u] was a great role model for people of all races and genders, but I do worry about whether it might be inappropriate to use her name on a white child. Thoughts on the name?

I agree it’s a bit out there, but certainly a wonderful role model to name a child after. I don’t think it matters what race you use it for. I would suggest that if you decide to use it, use her whole name- first name [name_f]Sojourner[/name_f], middle name [name_u]Truth[/name_u]- so it’s evident that you’re purposefully naming a child after her and not just picking outlandish names without intention.

Thanks for your input! I wouldn’t say I’d actually name the child after [name_f]Sojourner[/name_f] [name_u]Truth[/name_u], it’s just a positive association for a name I like the sound of.

I would say it’s useable. It’s a bit different but I find it a little similar to [name_f]Sigourney[/name_f] which is useable [name_f]IMO[/name_f].
Because I’m not from the US, I am not very familiar with [name_f]Sojourner[/name_f] [name_u]Truth[/name_u] (had to look her up), but she seems very inspirational for any race. I think also there is a white fashion model, named [name_f]Sojourner[/name_f] Morrell.

I hadn’t heard of [name_f]Sojourner[/name_f] Morrell- interesting to see the name used on someone else!
