I really like the name [name]Solomon[/name] and would like to have [name]Saul[/name] as the shortened name, not [name]Sol[/name].
Any opinions on using a name which doesn’t have the same letters as the original name?

Although the two names have different meanings, [name]Saul[/name] and [name]Sol[/name] are pronounced the same so I think choosing [name]Saul[/name] for [name]Solomon[/name]'s nickname is quite acceptable in my opinion. I actually knew a man who was named [name]Solomon[/name] and went by [name]Saul[/name]. I’m glad to hear that someone is considering the glorious [name]Solomon[/name] for their son’s first name. It’s an underused Biblical gem that evokes wisdom and justice. The name is distinguished, dignified and majestic. Wonderful choice! All the best, [name]Mischa[/name].
