Some new considerations, and a few questions.

[name]Hi[/name] Berries, its been a while since I’ve posted a thread here!

I have a few questions, if you wouldn’t mind answering. Over the last few months, I’ve been crushing on the name [name]Rosalie[/name]. However, I have a problem. My eldest DD’s middle name is [name]Rose[/name], which honours her paternal grandmother. My [name]MIL[/name] is very special to us and was recently diagnosed with a terminal illness.
Now, her full name is actually [name]Rosalie[/name], which we didn’t discover till a few weeks ago. She has only ever gone by [name]Rose[/name], though. So my question is, could a future daughter of mine be [name]Rosalie[/name], even though it’d be partially her big sisters middle name?
And if you don’t think its okay, would you think it would be acceptable to change my DD’s middle name to [name]Rosalie[/name] instead of [name]Rose[/name]? I just don’t appreciate how much of a filler name [name]Rose[/name] is right now, and its something I deeply regret about her name. [name]Rosalie[/name] sounds fine with her first name. What do you think?

Also, a few names for your consideration!

[name]Madelina[/name] (or perhaps an alternate spelling)
[name]Eloise[/name]
[name]Lyra[/name]
[name]Camille[/name]
[name]Eve[/name]
[name]Alice[/name]
[name]Juliet[/name]
[name]Catherine[/name] (nn [name]Cate[/name])
[name]Lucia[/name] (my DH’s choice for a future baby girl, but my first name is [name]Lucy[/name])
[name]Aurelia[/name]
[name]Nora[/name]

I’d really appreciate some feedback, thank you  x

It might be a little strange to name a daughter [name]Rosalie[/name] if her older sister’s middle name is [name]Rose[/name]… but do what you want! I might go the route of changing my older daughter’s middle, though, if she were still young enough. Ultimately I don’t think either option is tok weird, and I would do either if I were.in your shoes. [name]Do[/name] what feels best!

I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Madelina[/name] and [name]Nora[/name] from your list. [name]Luciana[/name] as well… but I would feel a bit strange naming a daughter something that was so close to my own. That’s just me. Then again I would readily name my child after my future hubby, and I think it is really sweet yours wants to do the same.

Oops! I just realized you listed [name]Lucia[/name] not [name]Luciana[/name]! My comment still stands, though!

I personally don’t see any problem with [name]Rose[/name] as a middle name and [name]Rosalie[/name] as another child’s first name. The fact that [name]Rosalie[/name] is one of my biggest name crushes might account for that, but really, I would have zero issues with using it.

From your list, [name]Eloise[/name], [name]Juliet[/name], and [name]Lucia[/name] are my favorites.

To me it strikes me as two different ways of honoring a dear family member. It’s really not too weird to me to use both. However if [name]Rose[/name] as a filler bothers you enough though, you may be happiest changing your older daughter’s middle if she is young enough. I think that although [name]Rose[/name] is very popular as a middle right now that doesn’t change the fact that it’s very pretty and does honor this dear family member, which is great.

I guess my only minor concern if you use [name]Rosalie[/name] for daughter two is if you have a third daughter and she has no name connecting to this woman, will she feel left out? But I think that can be managed.

All best!

I don’t think it would be too similar but I would be afraid that your other daughter would feel left out since she does not have a [name]Rose[/name] name… I think it would be lovely to name a daughter with her full name since she is in such ailing health.

[name]Madelina[/name] - I prefer [name]Madelyn[/name] but all the variations are nice:)
[name]Eloise[/name] - I have never much liked this name, and doesn’t one of your other daughters names start with [name]El[/name]? I think it would be a little too close
[name]Lyra[/name] - I love it, I think it is better as an MN though
[name]Camille[/name] - Same as [name]Lyra[/name], just seems to fit better in the middle
[name]Eve[/name] - [name]Just[/name] to plain for me, what about [name]Genevieve[/name] NN [name]Eve[/name]?
[name]Alice[/name] - This is growing on me but I still see it as a little stuffy
[name]Juliet[/name] - [name]LOVE[/name], just gorgeous
[name]Catherine[/name] (nn [name]Cate[/name]) - [name]LOVE[/name], I just added it to my list as well
[name]Lucia[/name] - I think it would be cute to name the daughter after you, at least as an MN
[name]Aurelia[/name] - Seems a little fussy to me, but not awful
[name]Nora[/name] - I prefer it as a NN to [name]Eleanor[/name]/[name]Eleanora[/name]

Best Wishes

I dont think it would be weird to have one daughters mn as [name]Rose[/name] and the other daughters fn to be [name]Rosalie[/name] as they are both honouring a family member. However it is important to consider whether or not the second daughter would feel left out not having a ‘[name]Rose[/name]’ name. On another note I do see what you mean about [name]Rose[/name] being an extremely popular ‘filler’ mn (at least in Australia anyway) so if your daughter is still quite young and you feel really uncomfortable with it just being [name]Rose[/name] then I dont see the problem with changing the mn to [name]Rosalie[/name]. That way you wouldnt have to have two kids with a ‘[name]Rose[/name]’ name. Good luck

Oh, [name]Lucy[/name], I’m sorry to hear about your [name]MIL[/name]. I’m not sure I would change [name]Elena[/name]'s MN, though… isn’t she at least four by now? I can’t remember her age, but I thought she was four before [name]Violet[/name] was born… I would think that she knows her name by now and would be a bit confused as to why it’s changing now. Besides, it sounds like [name]Rose[/name] honors your [name]MIL[/name] wonderfully. I really only consider filler names “filler” if they don’t have any significance. For example, I would probably be dead-set against [name]Grace[/name] (and still hate the name, lol) if it wasn’t my grandmother’s name who means a lot to me. Now, I can’t imagine NOT using [name]Grace[/name] for my first daughter. I have vowed since I can remember that I would never give my daughter a filler MN, but when it comes to family, I just throw that out the window. [name]Rosalie[/name] and [name]Rose[/name] are a bit too similar to me, so I probably would drop [name]Rosalie[/name], even though it is stunning.

[name]Madelina[/name] (or perhaps an alternate spelling) - [name]LOVE[/name] this. I think it’s so sweet and princessy. When I posted for opinions on it here, though, I was told it was a bit pretentious and too princessy. I don’t really understand that, lol, and I still love it. I doubt I would use it, though, as [name]Madeleine[/name] has more significance to me personally.
[name]Eloise[/name] - not a fan at all, tbh. Sorry. I have a bad association to the name, and it just doesn’t hold the charm to me that it does to everyone else.
[name]Lyra[/name] - love it! It used to be a personal favorite, but now I just really like it. [name]Lyra[/name] is so cute, and [name]Elena[/name], [name]Violet[/name], and [name]Lyra[/name] would be perfect for sisters!
[name]Camille[/name] - love. [name]Olivia[/name] [name]Wren[/name] [name]Camille[/name] is my third favorite girls’ name. I like it better as a MN, but I still adore it. I think [name]Callie[/name] and [name]Millie[/name] are cute nns.
[name]Eve[/name] - [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Eve[/name]! I don’t really remember why I discarded it, but I love it and would love to see it used. I think [name]Elena[/name], [name]Violet[/name], and [name]Eve[/name] is darling.
[name]Alice[/name] - like [name]Alice[/name] a lot. It’s really cute with your girls’ names. Something about [name]Alice[/name] always holds me back, but I would love to meet a little girl with the name!
[name]Juliet[/name] - it’s always felt a bit pretentious to me, and I think [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Juliet[/name] are a bit too close. :frowning:
[name]Catherine[/name] (nn [name]Cate[/name]) - [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Catherine[/name] (and the nn [name]Cate[/name]!). I think [name]Elena[/name], [name]Violet[/name], and [name]Catherine[/name]/[name]Cate[/name] is just stunning.
[name]Lucia[/name] (my DH’s choice for a future baby girl, but my first name is [name]Lucy[/name]) - aww, that’s cute he loves this so much. Maybe as a MN? [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Lucia[/name] or [name]Camille[/name] [name]Lucia[/name] or [name]Eve[/name] [name]Lucia[/name] would be nice.
[name]Aurelia[/name] - [name]LOVE[/name] [name]AURELIA[/name]! I think it’s just breathtakingly stunning, and I would love to see you use this as a sister to [name]Elena[/name] and [name]Violet[/name]! Stylistically, I don’t think you could do any better! I love [name]Aurelia[/name] [name]Lucy[/name] or [name]Aurelia[/name] [name]Catherine[/name]!
[name]Nora[/name] - I used to see the appeal, but frankly, it bores me now. I just don’t see the appeal, sorry.

[name]Aurelia[/name], [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Eve[/name], [name]Alice[/name], [name]Camille[/name], and [name]Madelina[/name] are my favorites! [name]Aurelia[/name], [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Alice[/name], and [name]Camille[/name] are my favorites with [name]Elena[/name] and [name]Violet[/name].

Good luck!

I think it would be fine. I’ve done something similar. My oldest daughter’s middle name is [name]Marie[/name] (which I realize is considered a “filler” middle name, but it’s my middle name, my sisters’, my Mom’s, and my Grandmother’s so it had personal meaning for me) and my 2nd daughter’s first name is [name]Mary[/name]. [name]Marie[/name] and [name]Mary[/name] are very similar, but it’s never been an issue. I don’t often use their middle names.

My 2nd daughter as named after my husband’s grandmother. She went my [name]Mary[/name] but her actul first name was [name]Mariska[/name]. (She was Hungarian.) Everyone knew her as [name]Mary[/name] though, so I feel like this was the best way to honor her. I don’t think you need to change your first daughter’s middle name unless it feels really important to you. If she went by [name]Rose[/name], then that’s a perfect way to honor her. I really do love the name [name]Rosalie[/name] too. It would be a beautiful first name.

I agree with most the posters on here that it wouldn’t be weird to use [name]Rosalie[/name] for another daughter even tho it is one’s mn. Would you call her [name]Rosalie[/name] or nn [name]Rose[/name]? I still don’t think it really matters, but I personally find [name]Rosalie[/name] to be really different and distinct from [name]Rose[/name]. Probably because I have an aunt [name]Rose/name but have never known anyone named [name]Rosalie[/name].

Of your list, I like best:

Madeline / [name]Madeleine[/name]
[name]Eve[/name] (or [name]Eva[/name])
[name]Alice[/name]
[name]Catherine[/name] (nn [name]Cate[/name])
[name]Lucia[/name]

Heya [name]Lucy[/name], very sorry to hear about your [name]MIL[/name]!

I love your daughters names and I do vaguely remember seeing those on PC, what is Username over there? Is it the same?

Firstly, I think if you love [name]Rosalie[/name] above all else then I don’t think it is a major issue. Is your daughters middle name used often? I just want to check how your pronouncing [name]Rosalie[/name], is it [name]Rose[/name]-a-lee or more like [name]Roz[/name]-a-lee? [name]Rose[/name]-a-lee sounds much nicer but for some reason everytime I see it I always end up saying the latter pronunciation but I guess it isn’t a name I hear everyday.

[name]Elena[/name], [name]Violet[/name] & [name]Rosalie[/name] would be a beautiful sibset!

From the rest of your list I love…
[name]Madelina[/name] (or perhaps an alternate spelling)
[name]Eloise[/name]
[name]Camille[/name]
[name]Alice[/name]
[name]Aurelia[/name]
[name]Nora[/name]

So most of your list, excluding [name]Juliet[/name], [name]Lyra[/name], [name]Eve[/name] and [name]Catherine[/name]. I like [name]Eve[/name] but not really with your girls names.
With your name being [name]Lucy[/name], I don’t think [name]Lucia[/name] would be your best option either.
I really like [name]Eloise[/name] but [name]Elena[/name] and [name]Eloise[/name] are a little too similar for me.

[name]Elena[/name], [name]Violet[/name] & [name]Aurelia[/name]
[name]Elena[/name], [name]Violet[/name] & [name]Nora[/name]
[name]Elena[/name], [name]Violet[/name] & [name]Camille[/name]
[name]Elena[/name], [name]Violet[/name] & [name]Alice[/name]
[name]Elena[/name], [name]Violet[/name] & [name]Madelina[/name]

All the above are gorgeous sister sets, my favourites would be [name]Aurelia[/name], [name]Nora[/name] and [name]Madelina[/name]!
