I’ve been thinking about some names, combo’s, sibsets, etc. and I would love to here your opinions! I didn’t wanna make a topic about every single thought I had, so I’m just gonna put everything here! Thanks in advance x
What do you think about these names?
Tiril
Polly
Plum (as a first or middle)
Margriet (Dutch for daisy, sounds a lot like Margaret)
Helisent
Fedor
Ebbe / Eben → which do you like best?
Out of these names, what sibsets would you make (just FN’s)?
1.
[name_f]Tiril[/name_f] – I’ve never heard this before, and I really like it!
[name_f]Polly[/name_f] – This has grown on me a lot lately, I really like the clunky vintage charm
[name_f]Plum[/name_f] – Love!! Has a fun, bouncy feel to it. Works as a first or a middle imo!
[name_f]Margriet[/name_f] – I like it, and the word is a lovely connection
[name_f]Helisent[/name_f] – I like this, it feels whimsical and bright
[name_m]Fedor[/name_m] – I prefer [name_m]Feodor[/name_m], but it’s still a great name
[name_u]Ebbe[/name_u] / [name_m]Eben[/name_m] – I prefer [name_m]Eben[/name_m], but both are nice! I associate [name_u]Ebbe[/name_u] with the [name_m]German[/name_m] word for low tide, which is a fun nature connection
1.
[name_f]Tiril[/name_f] - not familiar with it, but could grow on me. Reminds me of the sound birds make
[name_f]Polly[/name_f] - not a huge fan, it’s alright but I can’t get “Polly wants a cracker” out of my head
[name_f]Plum[/name_f] - also not a fan. I know people think it’s cute but to me it’s too wordy and the sound is kinda, well, plump
[name_f]Margriet[/name_f] - cute! might be misspelled a lot though and, in the US, just be seen as a creative spelling of [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]
[name_f]Helisent[/name_f] - sorry for being so negative but I see “hellsent”
[name_m]Fedor[/name_m] - like it! Russian?
Ebbe/Eben - I prefer [name_m]Eben[/name_m], it makes for a cool modern shortform of a clunky but also cool biblical name (I also love [name_m]Bram[/name_m] as a form of Abraham)
2.
I love [name_f]Cora[/name_f], [name_f]Thea[/name_f], [name_u]Wolf[/name_u], [name_u]Ezra[/name_u] and [name_u]Storm[/name_u] most but I think the best set would be [name_f]Thea[/name_f], [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] & [name_m]Oskar[/name_m].
3.
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_u]Lumen[/name_u], [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], [name_m]Leander[/name_m] [name_u]Storm[/name_u] & [name_u]Ezra[/name_u] [name_u]Wolf[/name_u]
(Lumen is an old GP of mine )
Tiril - I think this name could be really fun. It feels bright and lilting which I enjoy.
Polly - one of my favorite names on my I Wish I Could Use This list. I know a little girl with this name as well and she wears it beautifully. Kind of quirky in the best way.
Plum - I prefer Plum as a middle name or nickname, but I love it in those spots.
Margriet - very sweet name, I would be prepared for this to have some mix-ups with Margaret at least in English-speaking places. I will say that it feels more like a field full of daisies than Margaret does, such a sunny name.
Helisent - gorgeous and intriguing. Has a mysterious way about her but such a lovely name.
Fedor - I tend to prefer Fyodor or Feodor if you’re going in this direction.
Ebbe / Eben - I generally like Ebba for a girl and Eben for a boy. Ebbe for either is interesting as well.
Pippa & Twila
Abel, Bess, Polly & Ezra
Matilda, Oskar & Wolf
Nohr, Frode & Ebbe
Winifred & Castor
Cedar, Lola & Twila
(I was going to ask if you had considered Tove and then I saw it on your list aha)
A few different sibsets because I couldn’t choose
Freja Winifred, Etta Lilac & Basil Evander
Caspar Wolf, Helena Juno, Cordelia Violet & Magnus Leander
Fergus Fréy, Astrid Lola & Oskar Folke
I’ve never seen or heard [name_f]Tiril[/name_f] before. It has a nice ring to it but it reminds me a lot of the word trill, which is not bad, just my main association.
[name_f]Polly[/name_f] is such a fun name. It’s lively and friendly. It isn’t really my personal style though, but I love it for other people.
[name_f]Plum[/name_f] sounds very nice but I don’t like it as a name because it’s a fruit. It just seems weird to me to name your child like a food.
I like [name_f]Margriet[/name_f], although it’s quite dated.
[name_f]Helisent[/name_f] is cool, but a bit too witchy sounding for me.
I love [name_m]Fedor[/name_m]! I like that overal this name sounds strong, but the initial F is more of a soft letter (to me, at least). This makes [name_m]Fedor[/name_m] a comfortably balanced name.
I also love [name_u]Ebbe[/name_u]. I also like [name_m]Eben[/name_m] but I prefer [name_u]Ebbe[/name_u].
I think [name_u]Ebbe[/name_u], [name_f]Thea[/name_f], [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] and [name_u]Wolf[/name_u] is a great sibset.
With yout favorites, I’d name my children [name_m]Melle[/name_m] [name_m]Casper[/name_m], [name_m]Fedor[/name_m] [name_u]Ebbe[/name_u], [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] [name_f]Marit[/name_f] and [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] [name_f]Freja[/name_f].
