My wife is Chinese and we’ve chosen Lok as a 2nd name for our son. It means ‘[name]Joy[/name]’ in Cantonese.
So I want a slightly less unusual first name, but still unusual enough that he won’t be likely to find another boy with the same name in his class at school. Ideally with 2 syllables as my surname is a single syllable name, so it will balance better.
In terms of character/feel, I’d like something that has a sense of purpose to it. A little bit of mystery but a bit of strength too.
Considering these:

My wife isn’t keen on [name]Soren[/name] (thinks it sounds too feminine) or [name]Reuben[/name]. We both like the feel of [name]Kai[/name], but of course it only has 1 syllable.
Yes, perhaps. I mostly suggested it based on the meaning but I definitely understand what you’re saying. [name]Torin[/name] is great! It has all the nice sounds that I love from [name]Soren[/name], but definitely sounds much stronger. Or there’s Thorin… =]

From your list I think [name]Rowan[/name] and [name]Kieran[/name] are my favorites! I love both those names and they sound handsome with Lok! I also like [name]Soren[/name]. [name]Reuben[/name] reminds me too much of the sandwich, and I agree that [name]Kai[/name] is too short.
I am not a fan of [name]Owen[/name] and depending where you like it might be very popular. Where I live it is incredibly common amongst the under 10 crowd.
[name]Love[/name] [name]Torin[/name] and [name]Kieran[/name]. [name]Torin[/name] Lok sounds really cool! Have you looked into other names that have “[name]Kai[/name]” in them? Such as Enakai (means glowing sea in hawaiian).
