While i like my last name ([name]Matthews[/name]) it’s also a bit on the common side so trying really head to find a less common first name to go with it so when my son grows up he’s not one of a million “[name]John[/name] [name]Matthews[/name]” floating around out there. Below is a list of potentials, let me know which one’s you think stand out (but doesn’t sound super common).
[name]Roland[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] - sounds great, flows well, but I don’t like [name]Roland[/name]!
[name]Noah[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] - great combination
[name]Brandon[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] - I prefer [name]Brennan[/name].
[name]Trent[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] - I’ve never loved [name]Trent[/name], but this actually sounds AMAZING! I really like this.
[name]Drake[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] - see [name]Trent[/name].
[name]Ewan[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] - too much “ew” going on here…[name]EWan[/name] [name]MatthEWs[/name]
[name]Sawyer[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] - great!
[name]Kai[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] - trendy, but had a really nice sound.
[name]Seth[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] - too much “th” sound.
[name]Ryder[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] - I really like it.
[name]Grayson[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] - trendy…but still workable.
[name]Silas[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] - a little heavy on the “s” sound, but still alright.
I think my favourites are actually [name]Trent[/name], [name]Sawyer[/name], [name]Noah[/name] and [name]Kai[/name]!
I like [name]Ewan[/name], [name]Seth[/name] (my DS’s name!) and [name]Silas[/name]. I know [name]Seth[/name] is prob the most common of those 3, but we have yet to meet another [name]Seth[/name] anywhere near my son’s age (4).
I don’t find any of those [name]Unique[/name] or unusual, out of your choices I would go with [name]Grayson[/name] [name]Matthews[/name].
For more unusual styles: Merrick, [name]Lennox[/name], Maven, [name]Devlin[/name], [name]Caspar[/name], [name]Gage[/name], [name]Garrett[/name], atticus, emmerson, ryland, kendrick, colton
I like [name]Drake[/name] and [name]Ryder[/name] best from your choices and [name]Greyson[/name] least. What about:
[name]Warrick[/name] [name]Matthews[/name]
[name]Keir[/name] [name]Matthews[/name]
[name]Fraser[/name] [name]Matthews[/name]
[name]Roland[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] - love it, although I’m not sure it’ll get a generally positive reaction!
[name]Noah[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] - quite nice, although this is a fairly popular name right now
[name]Brandon[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] - feels dated
[name]Trent[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] - OK, very solid, just not particularly interesting.
[name]Drake[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] - this just makes me think of the rapper, who has been obnoxious in the news lately
[name]Ewan[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] - I like this in theory, the double Ew thing is cool, but I think this won’t get the best reaction / will get teased
[name]Sawyer[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] - I don’t really understand the appeal of [name]Sawyer[/name]. It’s fine, just trendy. Be aware it’s getting some girls’ use.
[name]Kai[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] - I like [name]Kai[/name]!
[name]Seth[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] - Quite nice, like the th- continuity.
[name]Ryder[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] - this name always feels a little tacky to me in a way. It’s fine.
[name]Grayson[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] - I like [name]Gray[/name], [name]Grayson[/name] is alright but feels flash-in-the pann-esque.
[name]Silas[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] - I quite like [name]Silas[/name]!
Favorites are [name]Kai[/name], [name]Seth[/name], and [name]Silas[/name]. Also [name]Roland[/name], but that is really quite bold.
[name]Don[/name]'t care for [name]Drake[/name] or [name]Sawyer[/name].
What about
[name]Deacon[/name]
[name]Gregory[/name] (nn [name]Gray[/name]?)
[name]Tobias[/name]
[name]Nolan[/name]
[name]Leland[/name]
[name]Quentin[/name]
[name]Silas[/name] - love!
[name]Drake[/name] - I really like this one
[name]Seth[/name] - nice
[name]Noah[/name] - lovely, though quite popular and not sure it flows great
[name]Trent[/name] - okay
[name]Ewan[/name] - okay
[name]Roland[/name] - not fond, but it’s not bad
[name]Ryder[/name] - meh
[name]Sawyer[/name] - kinda trendy
[name]Grayson[/name] - trendy
[name]Brandon[/name] - snore, sorry, hate it
[name]Kai[/name] - meh
I like [name]Noah[/name] [name]Matthews[/name], [name]Kai[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] and what about [name]Finn[/name] [name]Matthews[/name]? Or [name]Noah[/name] [name]Finn[/name] [name]Matthews[/name]?
Pretty sure [name]Noah[/name] is in the Top Ten right now? It’s a boring choice with [name]Matthews[/name] [name]IMO[/name]. Neither name is bad but together? Sleepy.
[name]Roland[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] - Favourite. Uncommon first that isn’t hard to read or explain and isn’t made up.
[name]Noah[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] - [name]Pleasant[/name] but dull. There are other similar names that are not so common.
[name]Brandon[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] - Overused, kinda dated.
[name]Trent[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] - Very '80s.
[name]Drake[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] - Better than [name]Trent[/name] or [name]Brandon[/name].
[name]Ewan[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] - Are you saying it Ew-an or You-an? I don’t mind this one but [name]Owen[/name] might flow better.
[name]Sawyer[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] - Big fan of Lost?
[name]Kai[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] - I like [name]Kai[/name] best as a nickname but this isn’t that bad.
[name]Seth[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] - The repeating “th” doesn’t do much for me but it’s okay.
[name]Ryder[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] - Trendy, occupational, a random y. Not a big fan.
[name]Grayson[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] - [name]Grey[/name]/[name]Gray[/name] I like, mostly as a middle, [name]Grayson[/name] doesn’t do much for me otherwise.
[name]Silas[/name] [name]Matthews[/name] - Like, second favourite after [name]Roland[/name].
[name]Roland[/name] and [name]Silas[/name] stand out from the rest as high-quality, [name]IMO[/name]. [name]Drake[/name] and [name]Kai[/name] are the next best options. [name]Noah[/name] is okay if you discard the whole caring about uncommon names thing.
Honestly I don’t really find any of the names you gave suggested particularly unique. I do love [name]Roland[/name], nn [name]Rollo[/name]. I also quite like [name]Noah[/name] but its really popular at the moment - #5. The rest of the names really aren’t my cup of tea - sorry. I think there are much more interesting names out there that are much less popular. Here are a few ideas that capture that ‘safe/popular’ feeling I get from your list but which are a bit more unique. I hope they will help you think up some names that will mean your boy stands out a bit more than [name]John[/name]! In no particular order:
[name]Roderick[/name]
[name]Nathaniel[/name] nn [name]Nate[/name]
[name]Nyle[/name] (pn [name]Nile[/name])
[name]Benedict[/name]
[name]Edmund[/name]
[name]Edwin[/name]/[name]Edwyn[/name]
[name]Tait[/name]/[name]Tate[/name]
[name]Tristan[/name]
[name]Deakin[/name]
[name]Hugo[/name]
[name]Owen[/name]
[name]Duncan[/name]
[name]Soren[/name]
[name]Sully[/name]
[name]Sutton[/name]
[name]Jasper[/name]
[name]Rowan[/name]
[name]Ronan[/name]
[name]Graeme[/name] nn grey
[name]Gregory[/name] nn grey
[name]Granger[/name]
[name]Grover[/name]
[name]Rynn[/name]
[name]Ryland[/name]
[name]Ridge[/name]
