(Somewhat) Subtle Icy Names for Girls?

I’m trying to be obvious-but-not in the naming of the characters for a series of short stories aimed at literally just my younger siblings and maybe my friends, so we’ve got a character named [name_u]Brooke[/name_u] who’s got water powers and she’s got a sister who will have ice powers because ice is literally just very cold water. However, I want the ice sister’s name to be at least slightly subtle. [name_u]Or[/name_u] exactly a tiny bit subtle, if that makes sense, I need there to be a chance of my sisters making the link. They’re not the brightest.
[name_u]Brooke[/name_u] is not the twin of the girl with ice powers, they’re sisters born eleven months apart. Their surname is Destan.
Any suggestions are welcome!

I’m not sure if this is too obvious but what about [name_u]Winter[/name_u]?

Maybe Crystal? If you’re willing to use snow-meaning names, I’d also suggest Eira &/or Eirlys.

I mean, it’s as subtle as whacking someone over the head with a hammer as a way to tell them you dislike them, but that’s about as good as I could ever do with my sisters. Literally my twelve-year-old sister thought Korea was the capital of Croatia, mixed up Iceland and [name_u]Ireland[/name_u] and then thought Australia was the capital of [name_f]Austria[/name_f].
And that [name_f]Asia[/name_f] was a country.
The other sister is even worse, although she’s younger so it’s slightly more excusable.
I do like the name [name_u]Winter[/name_u], but it doesn’t really fit with [name_u]Brooke[/name_u] in my head.

I did consider [name_f]Crystal[/name_f], and I love [name_f]Eira[/name_f]. [name_f]Eirlys[/name_f] is one I’ve never really thought about using, but there is a first time for everything. It’s just that [name_f]Eira[/name_f] and [name_f]Eirlys[/name_f] don’t strike me as logical sister names for [name_u]Brooke[/name_u]. As for Crystal… well, I don’t know, I just want to see if there are any other options before I 100% choose it.
Still, I will probably find ways to use [name_f]Eira[/name_f] or [name_f]Eirlys[/name_f] either somewhere else in the story or in one of my other two hundred projects, because since when did I finish one thing before starting another?

Not sure how well this fits but my first thought was Gerda/Gerta, in reference to the [name_u]Snow[/name_u] [name_f]Queen[/name_f] [name_m]Hans[/name_m] [name_u]Christian[/name_u] [name_u]Andersen[/name_u] fairytale. Not sure about the pairing with [name_u]Brooke[/name_u] though. Maybe [name_f]Bianca[/name_f]? [name_u]Or[/name_u] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]?

I always simultaneously loved and hated that fairytale. It seemed like it took forever to get anywhere but when I was actually interested then I liked it. It’s definitely something my sisters could make the link to because I literally have a book in their room with that fairytale in it. If they ever opened a book, they’d have a chance at making links. And yeah, it fits quite well. Though I don’t think it sounds well with [name_u]Brooke[/name_u]. [name_f]Bianca[/name_f] seems too matchy since they both start with ‘B’. As for [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], I think it might work. Won’t make a final decision on it right this moment but I’ll get to it immediately.

I’m basing everything off whether my sisters would understand the link when I know they’re complete idiots and probably wouldn’t even make the Brooke-water connection. [name_f]My[/name_f] brother might have a better chance than those two and he struggles reading in a totally different sense (only sibling I managed to get to read [name_u]Harry[/name_u] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] and the Philosopher’s [name_m]Stone[/name_m], which I count as a win. 1 and 3 can’t be bothered opening books at all. Don’t really get how we can possibly be related. And they’ve got all my books in their room because I can’t have a bookshelf in my room).

That was a rant, wow.

[name_f]Isolde[/name_f]! Not sure how well it goes with brooke tho lol

[name_f]Noelle[/name_f] or [name_f]Neve[/name_f].

Niamh comes to mine? Neige in French means snow, and Niamh sounds like that word. First thought was Elsa tho. :joy:

[name_f]Elsa[/name_f] came to mind first lol
