My husband loves [name]Carson[/name], but I can’t get excited about it (I like sound of the name. But, to me, it feels a little bland from over use). I like the possibility of finding another name that ends in -son that both my husband and myself would love, so am looking for suggestions and opinions on what the best and worst -son names are. If anyone wants to take the time to explain what they love and/or hare about various -son names, I would love that! But just suggestion lists would be great too!
I love [name]Edison[/name] but cannot use it as it was used by friends of ours. My husband mentioned liking Colson when he recently read a book by Colson Whitehead, however my [name]SIL[/name] has a little [name]Colton[/name] and my cousin has a [name]Cole[/name], so I fear we cannot use Colson either. Right now I am really starting to like the sound of [name]Emerson[/name]…anyway, I am looking forward to hearing what you think!
Personally, I love [name]Jackson[/name] (I can just see some nameberries reactions right now:-)
what about:
[name]Lawson[/name]
[name]Greyson[/name]
[name]Bryson[/name]
does it have to end in -son or could you use any of these:
[name]Evan[/name] - I [name]LOVE[/name] (my ds name)
[name]Weston[/name]
[name]Tobin[/name]
[name]Owen[/name]
[name]Griffin[/name]
[name]Duncan[/name]
[name]Gavin[/name]
also ending in the --en sound.
I love [name]Emerson[/name]! It’s so handsome. I think it would make a lovely choice, if your hubby is on board.
My favorite -son name is definitely [name]Grayson[/name]… if I use a -son name, that would probably be it, because it honors my grandmother (whose MN is [name]Grace[/name]).
Other -son names I like (roughly in this order):
[name]Emerson[/name]
[name]Hudson[/name]
[name]Edison[/name]
[name]Jameson[/name]/[name]Jamison[/name]
[name]Dawson[/name]
[name]Addison[/name]
[name]Garrison[/name]
[name]Ellison[/name]
[name]Harrison[/name]
[name]Jackson[/name]
Good luck!
What about using [name]Carson[/name] as the middle name? I do find [name]Emerson[/name] quite handsome. One way to make a -son name special would be to pick a male family name - let’s pretend grandpa’s name is [name]Robert[/name] - and use a -son form of it. For [name]Robert[/name] you could have [name]Robertson[/name], [name]Robson[/name], [name]Roberson[/name], [name]Robinson[/name]. [name]Just[/name] thought I’d throw that out there. [name]Nelson[/name] and [name]Watson[/name] are two more -son names that come to mind.
I agree, [name]Carson[/name]'s a little blendy. I think the three-syllable -son names stand out a bit more than the two syllable ones because the shorter names also sound like the -ton, -dan, and -ron names like [name]Cameron[/name], [name]Peyton[/name], [name]Weston[/name], [name]Kayden[/name], etc. Come to think of it, it seems that most popular boy’s names are two syllables and end in n!
My favorite -son names:
[name]Jameson[/name]
[name]Emerson[/name]
[name]Anderson[/name]
And some others:
[name]Harrison[/name]
[name]Jackson[/name]
[name]Jason[/name] (does this count as a -son name?)
[name]Tennyson[/name]
[name]Samson[/name]
[name]Wilson[/name]
