Sorry this is a lot of reading but opinions are needed!

I don’t think of sexual prowess or seduction as feminine strength & freedom due to my beliefs & experience that living life in that way at one time actually left me empty in my soul. It seems the current meaning attached to sirens revolves around this (sexual prowess/seduction).

Many ppl balked at the name [name_m]Job[/name_m] we gave to our son, based on its official meaning of “persecuted” and all the biblical character went through. But we admire and are encouraged by the biblical character’s faithfulness to God, not only in good times but also in the adverse, a faith that most humans do not persevere to attain.

All that to say, the overall message, legacy and meaning behind that story was what won us over, despite the initial thoughts around us. I can see many names this can apply to when it comes to people’s reactions. :smirk: But, with the word siren as a name, I don’t get the sense the overall meaning was wholesome or helpful. There are other names that would be able to express or reflect the strength of a woman and it’s good to teach our daughters strength but it’s tough to do that with a word so closely attached to other things.
