Does turning a ‘one-character only’ name into a double barrel name lessen the association? For example, does [name_f]Petunia[/name_f]-[name_u]Rae[/name_u] have less Dursley-ness then [name_f]Petunia[/name_f] alone? Is [name_f]Zelda[/name_f]-[name_f]Joy[/name_f] not quite as tied to the video game?

Yes, I’d say it helps. For what it’s worth, I usually prefer non-hyphenated double names, i.e. [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Sarah[/name_f]-[name_f]Jane[/name_f].
Yes, however I don’t think [name_f]Petunia[/name_f] qualifies. [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] on the other hand…
