Sounds like

We’re expecting a babe in December, so I’ve been toying with old favorites and family names today, and discovered…

Willa Bea which to me sounds like the boy name Willoughby, which I love!

I think if we had a daughter and named her this, I’d be inclined to call her by both names more often than not. Is that too confusing?? Is it just quirky enough to work?

I have a hunch my husband will veto this name, but I can’t get over how fun this name is! Can you berries think of any other name combos that together sound like another name entirely?

It does sound like [name_u]Willoughby[/name_u], but I don’t know how many people would think of that? Plus it doesn’t bother you, I wouldn’t worry about it. It’s a cute name and is fun to say!

[name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Bea[/name_f] is seriously adorable! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: I think it’s possible you’d have to spell it out for people, but not necessarily because they’d confuse it with Willoughby–just because there are enough possible variables (double name, [name_f]Bea[/name_f] vs. [name_f]Bee[/name_f], etc.) that they wouldn’t necessarily be able to guess. I don’t see that as a dealbreaker by any means though, and like I said, I adore the combo! I’d be thrilled to meet a little [name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Bea[/name_f] :yellow_heart:

I made a slight edit to clarify. I think I like the name combo more for being so similar to [name_u]Willoughby[/name_u], which is such a whimsical boy name to me. But you make a good point…I wonder how many people where I’m from (midwest US) will even be familiar with the boy name [name_u]Willoughby[/name_u].

Very cute name, but I would definitely assume her name was [name_u]Willoughby[/name_u] not [name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Bea[/name_f] (unless you said it with a specific cadence, then it does distinguish it a little).

[name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Bea[/name_f] is so cute! It has such a nice ring to it!

[name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Bea[/name_f] is genius! I love it!

Honestly, outside of Nameberry I don’t think many people would know the name [name_u]Willoughby[/name_u] (unless they’re [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u] fans). I agree with @futuremama that, said with the right cadence, you can distinguish them as two names a bit.

Personally, I’d probably still use [name_f]Willa[/name_f] most of the time and then just use [name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Bea[/name_f] on some occasions either in a playful way or maybe in a you’re-in-trouble-young-lady kinda way.

I could see that! [name_u]Or[/name_u] maybe just use it more at home as a family nickname

It’s a very cute combo. I know a young girl named [name_u]Willoughby[/name_u], as well as a a family of Willoughbys, so if I just heard the name, I’d think that was her name. If I saw it on paper, that’s obviously a different story.
