Okay… so here’s the thing. OH and I are a cross-cultured couple, he’s American and I am Australian, his family mainly stems from [name_f]Italy[/name_f]. He’s born and raised in the south though and I am Australian with a family background that’s incredibly mixed. Most notably [name_m]German[/name_m] and Romani. I also love everything Southern, so I am leaning towards that style more and more.
I don’t particularly like most Italian boys names with the exceptions of [name_u]Luca[/name_u], [name_m]Matteo[/name_m], [name_m]Enzo[/name_m] & [name_m]Zio[/name_m], though they don’t really gel well with our other boys names. So we’re looking to include more of our European culture through our girls names!
One of our front runners at the moment is: [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Lora[/name_f] [name_f]Lark[/name_f] or [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Lora[/name_f] [name_u]Lake[/name_u]. [name_f]Anna[/name_f] is quite culturally neutral. While [name_f]Lora[/name_f] is the [name_m]German[/name_m] spelling of [name_f]Laura[/name_f] and would honour my grandmother’s middle name [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f]. Finally, [name_u]Lake[/name_u] or [name_f]Lark[/name_f] are symbols of our love of the water or music. It can also obviously be double-barreled to Annalora.
Here are my other ideas:
Analetta - A Romani name that feels like a bit of a smoosh name.
[name_f]Angelina[/name_f] - The -leen sound feels very Southern to me.
[name_f]Lilla[/name_f] - I know one of the Southern berries has a daughter by this name. I think it’s beautiful and Italian!
[name_f]Viviana[/name_f]
[name_f]Mara[/name_f] - This is used in Romani culture and seems somewhat continental? It’s growing on me.
[name_f]Mariele[/name_f]/[name_f]Mariella[/name_f] - Sounds like a double name obviously. Loved this one a long time.
Any more ideas, berries? Thanks! ![]()
It sounds very poetic.
