Hey Y’all!
So I’m looking for a girl name and just haven’t found the right one yet. We like southern/vintage uncommon names. Siblings are Silas Rhett and Jasper Brooks… boy names come pretty easy to us! Girls not so much.
I would love to use a M name, but it doesn’t have to be.
Also I’ve tossed around using Viola as a middle name possibly. It goes along with where we were married. But definitely open to suggestions!
Inspirations
Mary
Marlene
Millie
Lucille
Mae
Hazel
Zilpha
Heidi
Hazel
Anne
Effie
Fanny
Frieda
Anne
Lou
[name_f]Millie[/name_f] is very sweet! I love [name_f]Millicent[/name_f] for a longer birth certificate name.
[name_f][/name_f]
Other M names I see as having [name_m]Southern[/name_m] and/or vintage charm: [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Maude[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Mercy[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]Maeleen (could be spelled lots of different ways, but I met one who uses this spelling) [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Maelie[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Margaret[/name_f] (I love the nickname [name_f]Margot[/name_f], but there are about a million for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], including [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] and [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] which both sound [name_m]Southern[/name_m] to me!) [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Miriam[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Marielle[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Meredith[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Marina[/name_f] (Marnie would be a cute vintage nickname) [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Melina[/name_f]

Have fun with girl names! I find boy names way harder, but you chose great ones!
From your list, I love the pure, reliable & storybook sweet, Mary. If you choose an S middle name or one with an S in it - Maisie could be a delightful nickname. I also love Polly as nn to Mary.
I’m not a big Mae fan - don’t mind May as a nn for Mary or a Mary name. Or for Mabel.
I also like Hazel, Heidi, Marlene & Anne
Take any repeats as added endorsement, HoS about:
Marianne nn Marnie? Means you get to use both Mary and Anne too.
Margaret / Marguerite - and as above, Peggy & Daisy (and Meg) are great nn options.
Marceline
Meredith
Maxime
Otherwise, how about:
Rosemary (nn Romy)
Daphne
Adelaide
Francine (nn Franny, Francy or Fanny*)
Phoebe
Bryony
Imogen (nn Immy - not an M name, but close)
Lydia
Delphine
Aoife
Tess
Diana
Elspeth or Elsbeth
Cecily or Cicely
Persephone (nn Effie)
Ophelia (nn Effie)
*Fanny doesn’t translate especially well to some countries so think better if a nn for a longer name so your child has other name options
You have great names on your list! [name_f]My[/name_f] top 3 from your list are [name_f]Mae[/name_f], [name_f]Millie[/name_f], and [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Viola[/name_f] would be a great middle name!
[name_f][/name_f]
Another M name that hasn’t been listed yet could be [name_f]Maren[/name_f].
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Sadie[/name_f] (I love [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Viola[/name_f]- perfect mix of sassy and elegant!) [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Stella[/name_f]
