I prefer [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]. For me they are two different names.
I only like Emilea nn [name_f]Emmy[/name_f]. The other spellings of ok too girly for me tbh.
I pronounce the names slightly differently (although they often come out very similarly) but I prefer [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] over [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]. I feel like it looks softer.
I have an [name_f]Emilia[/name_f], so I’m very biased towards that one She is called [name_f]Emmy[/name_f] and [name_f]Mimi[/name_f] for short. We do have to correct people now and then (especially when she was a baby), but I think [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_m]Clarke[/name_m] has helped people to hear/know the difference. Having a family member named [name_f]Emilie[/name_f] doesn’t seem like it would be a big deal to me.
I really like [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] and it would be a lovely nod to honour [name_f]Emilie[/name_f]. I wouldn’t use a nickname as [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] is short enough that I don’t think it’s necessary and lovely on it’s own. Sometimes nicknames just happen though and I like the pp’s idea of [name_f]Mimi[/name_f]. To me, [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] feels fresher than [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] maybe because it is more uncommon.
To me, [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] are not pronounced the same. So I prefer [name_f]Amelia[/name_f].
My name’s [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] but I much prefer [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]. I think it’s prettier and I like the sound more. Also, the [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_m]Clarke[/name_m] reference is a bonus (and makes the name more familiar).
I pronounce them slightly differently and my preference is [name_f]Emilia[/name_f].(eh-[name_f]MIL[/name_f]-ee-a compare to [name_m]AH[/name_m]-mee-lee-a ) Yes you may need to correct the spelling now and again but to be honest you need to do that with a lot of names nowadays.
I like both but prefer [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]. And like the nickname [name_f]Emmie[/name_f]. And I think the family tie-in is nice. You’ll have to spell it for people, but it’s a well-established variant and won’t be too much of a bother, I don’t think. (There’s spelling variants of each of my 3 names, and it’s really not a big deal.)
These are two different names with different pronunciations to me. [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] is ‘EH-me-lee-ah’ and [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] is ‘ah-ME-lee-ah’. I personally prefer [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] but go with whichever fits your preferred pronunciation.
I used to love [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], but then it got very common. Still a lovely name though.
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] I’ve never liked. Something about the [name_m]Emil[/name_m] in it and I say the two names differently.
I prefer [name_f]Earhart[/name_f] to both!
To me, [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] are pronounced differently. I think with [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] there would definitely be initial corrections and/or need to spell out the name, but I’ve grown up having to do that and it’s not so much of an issue as some people would think. Personally I like the history and sound of [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] better than [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] so she got my vote.
