Spelling help

[name_f]Annalise[/name_f] or [name_f]Annelise[/name_f]?

I know neither are the [name_m]German[/name_m] spelling… we are not going to use that.

I was leaning towards [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] as I think it looks pretty and contains my middle name [name_f]Ann[/name_f] and honors my grandmother [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f].

[name_f]Annalise[/name_f] seems to be featured in forums a bit as the more common spelling and is pretty phonetic. I don’t want them to be called [name_f]Ann[/name_f]-[name_f]Elise[/name_f]. It’s more like An-[name_f]Alise[/name_f] but that reminds me of Analyse.

Which do you think I should use in Australia?

I prefer [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] as well, and its significance to you is nice I think. I’m not sure in English speaking countries if the name really has a standard spelling.

I like the look of [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] better.

[name_f]Annelise[/name_f] for me.

I prefer [name_f]Annalise[/name_f], it was on my list for a long time.

I prefer [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] because I don’t like the “anal” part of of the other spelling.

Congrats on the new addition.

[name_f]Annelise[/name_f] is closer to the Germanic spelling and looks better. People will probably pronounce it correctly on the first try.

[name_f]Annalise[/name_f] looks like Analyze and will probably be mispronounced as often as pronounced correctly.

I agree that [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] looks the most streamlined (and is further from the unfortunate similarity to “anal”). It’s a beautiful name!
