I dislike the name immensely, but I think [name_f]Margot[/name_f] is your best option.
My preferred spelling is [name_f]Margot[/name_f].
I love the name [name_f]Margot[/name_f] and this is my preferred spelling in most cases. However, there have been a few instances where I preferred [name_f]Margo[/name_f]. [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] looks beautiful, but I just don’t like it spelled this way for some reason. It’s almost looks like it’s trying too hard to me.
This is one name, like [name_f]Catherine[/name_f], where I think it is okay to not use the most common spelling. [name_f]Margot[/name_f] is more traditional but could lead to pronunciation issues (not everyone gets the t is silent). [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] looks pretty but I had to copy&paste the name here to make sure I was spelling it correctly. I’m thinking that’ll be a common issue.
I think [name_f]Margo[/name_f] would be the best choice for you. Clear spelling and pronunciation, for the most part. It looks prettier than the other options, too, imo. As far as the whole does the name have to be spelled the same as the actress thing, no. I know probably a dozen people who were named after someone or something and their parents tweaked the spelling a bit.
I think I like [name_f]Margo[/name_f] best for you. It’s the clearest in terms of pronounciation, and the “o” ending adds spunk and youthfulness.
[name_f]Margo[/name_f] reminds me of [name_m]Wells[/name_m] [name_m]Fargo[/name_m], and no one would ever remember how to spell [name_f]Margaux[/name_f].
