Spellings

So I have a predicament. I have started to right my book but I haven’t gotten very far because the spelling of the names just don’t sit right with me and I just end up thinking about spellings not what I’m supposed to write.
The names are [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], [name_f]Arianna[/name_f], McKenna, and [name_f]Elaina[/name_f] (Elena). They go by [name_f]Cora[/name_f], Aria/Ari, [name_u]Kenna[/name_u], and [name_f]Ella[/name_f]. These are important to remember. The story is set in the future and I’m thinking about having unique but understandable spellings of names like [name_m]Jaxon[/name_m] instead of [name_u]Jackson[/name_u], [name_f]Alaysia[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Alesia[/name_f] and so on but that is not yet confirmed.

So what spelling do you like of each name?

[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] – Coardelia, Coardellia, Coardelya, [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], Cordellia, Cordellya, Cordelya

[name_f]Elaina[/name_f] – [name_f]Elayna[/name_f], [name_f]Ellaina[/name_f], [name_f]Elainna[/name_f], Elaena, Ellayna, Elaynna, Ellainna, Ellaena, Elaena

[name_f]Mckenna[/name_f] – Mkenna, Mckenah, Mickenna, [name_f]Makenna[/name_f], Mikennah

[name_f]Arianna[/name_f] – [name_f]Aryanna[/name_f], [name_f]Ariana[/name_f], [name_f]Aryana[/name_f], Ariannah, Aryannah, [name_f]Arianah[/name_f], Aryanah

Airalynn – Airalin, Ayralyn, Airallyn, Airalen, Airalon, Auralyn, Aeralyn, Airalyn, Airallin, Auralin, Aeralin, Airalinn, Ayralin, Ayrallyn, Ayralen, Ayralon, Ayralon, Ayralynn, Airalyn, Airallen, Airallon, Aurallyn, Aerallyn, Airallynn, Auralen, Aeralen, Airalenn, Auralon, Aeralon, Airalonn, Awralyn, Auralynn, Aeralynn

[name_f]My[/name_f] friend likes Cordelya, Elaena, Mikennah, and [name_f]Aryanna[/name_f] (She likes the spelling of Ayralin for Airalynn)

Should I use [name_f]Arianna[/name_f] or Airalynn (eye-ra-Lynn almost like Ireland)? Which one do you like better?

Give you honest opinions? I don’t care if it is brutal. I want it all.

The names are significant because the meanings of the name play a role in the story.

[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] means daughter of the sea
[name_f]Ela[/name_f] means earth
[name_u]Kenna[/name_u] means born of fire
[name_u]Aria[/name_u] and [name_f]Aira[/name_f] mean air
The four elements of matter

I like these spellings:
Cordelya
Elaena
[name_f]Mckenna[/name_f] (I know it’s the normal spelling, but the other spellings don’t seem right to me)
Aryannah
Ayralin

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you like Aryannah or Ayralin better because both names are for the the same character I just can’t decide if I like [name_u]Aria[/name_u] or [name_f]Aira[/name_f] better

I’d probably go [name_f]Aira[/name_f], if it was me. For some reason I just really like that name

Me to but I thought it would be to put there so I though I would ask

You could use [name_f]Makena[/name_f] for McKenna.

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorites are Cordelya, Elaena, [name_f]Makena[/name_f], [name_f]Ariana[/name_f], and Aurallyn or Aeralen. I prefer some sort of Airalynn over [name_f]Ariana[/name_f].

I prefer these:
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] or Cordellia

[name_f]Elaina[/name_f] or Elaena

[name_f]Mckenna[/name_f] or [name_f]Makenna[/name_f]

[name_f]Ariana[/name_f] or [name_f]Arianna[/name_f]

Airalen, Aeralin, Aeralon and Airalyn(n) all look good to me.

One thing I want to say is that with a lot of these, changing the spelling actually changes the pronunciation of the name as well! So if you want the names to be pronounced the way you’ve originally spelled them, you can’t use some of the alternate spellings. (for example, adding the 2nd L usually changes the pronunciation and in this case will often be pronounced as Cor-Deh-lee-ah instead of Cor-Dee-lee-ah. And Aeralin is generally pronounced slightly different to Airalin)

I understand that the pronunciation will change as long as you can get [name_f]Cora[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_u]Kenna[/name_u] and Aria/Aira it works. Because they will go by there nickname for most things I just need to know which long name spelling you like the best for when I need to use the long spelling.

Which name do you prefer [name_f]Arianna[/name_f] or Airalynn?

[name_m]Ah[/name_m] I see, that’s good
I think I prefer Airalynn because it’s more unusual than [name_f]Arianna[/name_f], and I also prefer [name_f]Aira[/name_f] to [name_u]Aria[/name_u] as a nickname
