I’m not really considering this name for myself, but I was just wondering what everyone thought about using [name]Spencer[/name] on a girl. One of the main characters of Pretty [name]Little[/name] Liars is named [name]Spencer[/name], which I found unusual mainly because her sister’s name is [name]Melissa[/name]. I think I like the name [name]Spencer[/name] on a girl because of this character but I don’t know how it would fair in the real world. I know it’s another boy’s name going to the girls and I know Berries typically don’t like that. However, I kind of see [name]Spencer[/name] as a more dated name for boys. [name]Do[/name] you think it could have new life as a girl’s name? What do you think of [name]Spencer[/name] on a girl?
I love Pretty [name]Little[/name] Liars haha and I actually met a little [name]Spencer[/name] not too long ago (Girl) and I thought it suited her perfectly. I think its very cute but people should always see their children before specifically choosing a name, certain names wouldn’t match certain people so it all depends really.
Former [name]Charlie[/name]'s Angels actress [name]Jaclyn[/name] [name]Smith[/name] named her daughter [name]Spencer[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] in the 1980’s and I thought it was kind of strange back then. My opinion hasn’t changed. I still think it’s too masculine for a girl. It’s really a matter of preference. I think the younger generation might like this name better. I guess I’m showing my age.
Blech, it’s totally masculine. I’d absolutely hate being named [name]Spencer[/name]-- I can’t see any advantage in having a boy’s name as a girl, and I really don’t like the trend.
Names do not find “new life” as girls’ names; they are emasculated, castrated, then stuck on girls.
yeah, i always wonder why the Hastings named [name]Spencer[/name] [name]Spencer[/name], because [name]Melissa[/name] is obviously feminine haha. i like PLL
I normally hear the name [name]Spencer[/name] and cringe. But on a girl it’s actually cute. I’m not a fan of really frilly names on girls, so I do like unisex or male names on girls.
This is one I just don’t get. I can understand why the sound of [name]Finley[/name] or [name]Addison[/name] would appeal to someone for a girl. I don’t like it, but I get it. [name]Spencer[/name] just doesn’t make any sense to me. There’s nothing feminine, graceful, or pretty about the consonant blends or -er ending. At least [name]Harper[/name] starts with an H, which I always think makes names seem softer. But [name]Spencer[/name] really just makes no sense at all to me.
I love PLL as well, but when I read the first book and I found out her name was [name]Spencer[/name], my first impression was yuck! I like [name]Spencer[/name] for a boy, but I HATE it on a girl! I like [name]Charlie[/name] and [name]Joey[/name] on a girl, but those are nicknames. [name]Even[/name] if you somehow found a way to get [name]Spencer[/name] as a nickname, I dont think I would like it.
I went to high school with not one, but two female Spencers (and I’m in my mid-twenties) so based on my experience it actually sounds more like a girl’s name to me. Normally I’m not a huge fan of the unisex names but this is one I do like.
