So very recently I’ve meet quite a few people named [name_u]Spencer[/name_u], and they’ve all been girls, which kind of surprised me. I know that [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] is a name used for both boys and girls, but I mainly think of it as a boy’s name. Thoughts? Is it a boy’s or girl’s name to you?
I think [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] is an uncommon unisex name! Reminds me heavily of [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] and even [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], for me it seems more trendy on a girl while more dated on a boy
I really prefer it on a boy personally. I like it for a boy too.
aw I love [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] - and I only like it for a boy really!
I definitely think of it as a boys name, but I do like it for a girl as well.
I think I’ve seen it pretty evenly on boys and girls. I personally would only use it for a girl, I think.
I’ve only ever met boys names [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] is it is one of my favorite boys names, but I do also like it for girls!
I think of it as unisex but leaning super masc. I’m personally not a huge fan of it, just personal taste
That is surprising, depending on their ages! PLL may have had an influence on the names of young ones.
I’ve only known male Spencers, though I did grow up with a girl who had it for a middle name. We were kids in the late 90s and early 2000s, for reference. It rings masculine to me, all the way.
Not a fan on a girl. Boy is just ok.
It’s a boy’s name to me, and one of my favorites. It’s also my favorite shortcut to the nickname [name_u]Penn[/name_u].
I think it could be cute on a girl, but I’ve only ever met male Spencer’s, and only a couple at that.
I’ve binge-watched the entire [name_f]Pretty[/name_f] [name_m]Little[/name_m] Liars show, but I still think of a boy whenever I hear this name, rather than [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] Hastings. Mainly, I think all -er ending names are masculine (with the exception of [name_u]Harper[/name_u], [name_u]Piper[/name_u] and Skyler), and [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] specifically I think has historically been more common for boys… That being said, I do agree that it might be a bit dated in that sense, but I still can’t see it as a feminine name. If you meet lots of girls named [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] nowadays, I’d say it might be part of the controversial trend of giving girls masculine names.
[name_u]Penn[/name_u] is such an amazing nn for [name_u]Spencer[/name_u]. I really like the nn [name_u]Penn[/name_u], but it’s hard to find names that have [name_u]Penn[/name_u] in them. I’ve always used [name_u]Aspen[/name_u].
[name_f]My[/name_f] deceased identical twin brother is named [name_u]Spencer[/name_u]. He is always my first association when I see or hear this name, and because of this I think of [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] as primarily a boy name.
I associate Spencer with boys! I’ve never met a Spencer, only seen one on TV, and he was a boy. That’s really my only frame of reference! It’s a cool name!
The only [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] I’ve ever met was a boy so I associate it more with boys but I wouldn’t be surprised to encounter a feminine [name_u]Spencer[/name_u]. It’s fairly unisex to me
