I am looking for a girl name that isn’t dated, but somewhat masculine without being clunky, and might be difficult to imagine on a baby. I want to rename myself!
I like:
[name_f]Elyse[/name_f] (spelling could be a nightmare)
[name_u]Paris[/name_u]
[name_f]Lux[/name_f]
[name_u]Bliss[/name_u] “like the word” – it’s easy to clarify, and not common. I don’t like [name_f]Faith[/name_f], [name_f]Hope[/name_f], etc, I associate them with christianity, a faith of which I am not a follower. But I am open to word/virtue names.
[name_f]Sonya[/name_f]
[name_f]Aya[/name_f]
I prefer if it doesn’t appear made up. My current name was a smush between my mother and sister’s middle names, and now it is very popular among American infant to twelve year old girls. I despise it. No one can spell it or pronounce it due to all the variations (even when I have a name tag), and as a 35 year old, it pegs me younger. In my field this is not a positive.
I’m also trying to avoid starting with C’s because my handwriting does not lend itself to an aesthetically pleasing C.
I welcome anyone’s suggestions. Names of all origins welcome, as I appear Caucasian but am not, so a name that indicates another ethnicity means nothing. Spunky. Slightly masculine. Easy to spell, even if it’s a foreign name. Longer names are fine if I can shorten them to something socially ([name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] called [name_u]Alex[/name_u]).
I forgot to mention, I will likely choose a french lastname. Devore, [name_m]Devereaux[/name_m], Bonneville, LeBlanc are some common ones (in my location) that I am considering.
I would used the original spelling [name_f]Elise[/name_f]. [name_f]Elyse[/name_f] looks made-up for me (sorry).
I like [name_f]Lux[/name_f] and [name_u]Bliss[/name_u]!
