Hey Berries…
I’d really love to find a top 1000 names in [name]Canada[/name], updated every year. I’ve Googled a ton and looked at the Registrar website and all that, but all I’ve been able to find is the top 100 names for 2009
Anyone know of anything?
Thanks!
I’ve looked for the same thing and only come up with 2009, like you. However, some provinces do their own lists – BC has a top 100 from last year, I think, and [name]Alberta[/name] has a list of every single name given in the province every year since 1990, with numbers (which is kind of an amazing thing to behold, as a name lover, even if some of them are seriously embarrassing). I did look for one for [name]Ontario[/name], once, but couldn’t find anything.
I’d love to see how our top 100 compares to the USA, especially with French influence and stronger ties to British naming tradition, etc.
I remember seeing an interactive map for baby names in different neighborhoods in Toronto. I’m sorry I don’t have the link, but it exists.
I can’t seem to find a comprehensive list either. I’m in [name]Alberta[/name], and they currently only have up to 2009 on their [name]Vital[/name] Statistics website. I emailed (back in [name]March[/name] or [name]April[/name], I think) and asked when 2010 would be posted. They told me it gets posted in [name]June[/name] or [name]July[/name], but so far, it’s not there.
I know of this site http://www.babynamefacts.com/popularnames/countries.php?country=QBC
which has 2010 for most of [name]Canada[/name] I believe many others. I presume it is accurate? - although not related to the government.
I’ve found the link! Mind you it’s from 2005-2009, but still so cool, especially since this is close to home for me! Thanks! The Ultimate BabyFile Guide: Everything Parents Need to Know - Open File – Source Of Information
