Here are a bunch of very unusual names from the 1880 list that I had either never heard or have only heard rarely. I started from the bottom up. These are the girls but I’ll try getting to the boys. [name]Even[/name] though most of them wouldn’t be usable today, they still struck me as kind of pretty.
[name]Eulalie[/name]
[name]Nolie[/name] (cute as nn for something, maybe [name]Noelle[/name]?)
[name]Marilla[/name] (have loved this one for awhile)
[name]Evaline[/name]
[name]Magnolia[/name]
[name]Magdalene[/name]
[name]Alida[/name]
[name]Eulalie[/name]
[name]Lucina[/name]
[name]Odelia[/name]
[name]Evaline[/name]
[name]Eulalia[/name]
[name]Magnolia[/name]
[name]Rosalia[/name] – We considered this for [name]Blake[/name]'s middle name. [name]Love[/name]!
[name]Magdalene[/name]
[name]Lilla[/name]
I really like for girls:
[name]Eulalie[/name]/[name]Eulalia[/name]
[name]Celie[/name]
[name]Evaline[/name]
[name]Magnolia[/name]
[name]Rosalia[/name]
[name]Lilla[/name]
and for boys:
[name]Soloman[/name]
[name]Noble[/name]
[name]Enos[/name]
I like [name]Eulalie[/name], [name]Evaline[/name], [name]Magnolia[/name] and [name]Magdalene[/name].
[name]Rosalia[/name], [name]Lilla[/name] and [name]Eulalia[/name] are such pretty and interesting names.
As for the boys, [name]Judd[/name], [name]Gardner[/name], [name]West[/name] and [name]Barton[/name] are cool, handsome sounding names.
I would never use [name]Weaver[/name], [name]Woodson[/name], [name]Tilden[/name], [name]Shade[/name], [name]Press[/name], [name]Urban[/name] and [name]Colonel[/name]- bit too strange for me !
While I was looking for names that were different, I have to agree about the boy names being too odd. I tend to prefer classics for boys myself. [name]Judd[/name] and [name]West[/name] are cool though.
Since I’ve never seen it, I have to ask- is that a bad association?
My middle name is [name]Elmina[/name]
I was named after both of my grandmothers, and my father’s mother is [name]Elmina[/name]. I always liked it. I was considering it for a girl actually… [name]Elmina[/name] [name]Bailey[/name]
I love [name]Magnolia[/name] (it’s my number 1 name!) with the nickname [name]Nolia[/name]/[name]Nolie[/name]… which I thought I invented! I can’t believe both of those are on the list! I guess I’m not as creative as I thought!
I noticed everyone seems to love [name]Magnolia[/name] recently. [name]Do[/name] you think it’s on the rise? I hope not!
I think that every name is usable. I really love:
[name]Eulalie[/name]
[name]Nelia[/name]
[name]Linna[/name]
[name]Celie[/name]
[name]Nealie[/name]
[name]Ardelia[/name]
[name]Eulalia[/name]
[name]Rosalia[/name]
[name]Nella[/name]
[name]Aline[/name]
[name]Magdalene[/name]
[name]Lilla[/name]
[name]Lovely[/name] names all around.
