Our daughter is [name]Rosamund[/name]. I’m pregnant with number 2. If it’s a boy, his name will be [name]Otto[/name]. If it’s a girl, I would like to start fresh with some new ideas. Originally, I wanted to make [name]Wilhelmina[/name] work, but I’m falling out of love with it (mostly the length and I generally don’t like feminized male names). A name I’ve considered is [name]Alice[/name], but sadly my husband is not a fan. I think [name]Adela[/name] is really cute, but there is an [name]Adela[/name] in my daughter’s class, so [name]Adela[/name], and probably [name]Adelaide[/name] are out. All of these names are obviously [name]German[/name], but that is not a requirement for a first name. We could always add a family or [name]German[/name] name in the middle to personalize it.
Who do you see as a sister to [name]Rosamund[/name]?
I adore [name]Rosamund[/name]! Here are a few ideas for her sister:
[name]Genevieve[/name]
[name]Florence[/name]
[name]Dorothea[/name]
[name]Louisa[/name]
[name]Clarissa[/name]
[name]Elspeth[/name]
[name]Elise[/name]
[name]Alice[/name]
[name]Edith[/name]
[name]Cecilia[/name]
[name]Cordelia[/name]
[name]Cora[/name]
[name]Daphne[/name]
[name]Agatha[/name]
[name]Nell[/name]
[name]Helen[/name]
[name]How[/name] funny…After your original post I compiled a list of nearly 80 feminized male names. I was trying to sort out how I felt about [name]Wilhelmina[/name], internally, that is. In the process I learned that even [name]Victoria[/name], [name]Louisa[/name], and [name]Harriet[/name], names that don’t automatically read as feminized male, actually are. [name]Even[/name] [name]Willa[/name] and [name]Olive[/name] can be seen in this light. Some of them I like a lot–[name]Josefa[/name], and [name]Thomasina[/name], [name]Raphaela[/name]. Others --[name]Ulrika[/name], and [name]Melvina[/name], not so much.
Onwards and upwards though, you’ve got some great suggestions above. I especially love [name]Minerva[/name], [name]Elsa[/name], [name]Dorothea[/name], [name]Elspeth[/name], [name]Daphne[/name], [name]Camilla[/name], [name]Florence[/name], and [name]Miranda[/name]. To those, I’d add: [name]Emmaliese[/name], [name]Millicent[/name], [name]Beatrice[/name], [name]Margaret[/name], [name]Alba[/name], [name]Amity[/name], [name]Arabella[/name], [name]Lisandra[/name], [name]Verona[/name], and [name]Verity[/name].
Thanks so much for all the amazing suggestions! I’m really loving [name]Elsa[/name] for it’s simplicity, and that it fits in with our other [name]German[/name] names. I also like the subtle nature connection of [name]Daphne[/name] ([name]Rosamund[/name]'s middle name is [name]Hazel[/name]), and [name]Genevieve[/name] is just so pretty and feminine, but I’m not a huge fan of [name]Gen[/name] or [name]Genny[/name] as a nickname. [name]Cordelia[/name] is fantastic, but my husband would never go for it. So many other great choices too! Thanks again to everyone!
