Starting over and need help.

After much debate we decided to just throughout our beast of a list and start over. With about 16 days left we need some ideas and quick.

We are not overly concerned with ‘matching’ our boys’ names because we are planning at least one or two more kids(after this one) and really don’t want all ‘unisex surname’ type names. We are looking for something sweet and charming now but grown and sophisticated later. My hubs has a weird(but sexy) accent. It is a Russian-British mixture and some names(and words) just sound off. I had to eliminate some names I really like such as [name_u]Meredith[/name_u], which when he says sounds a lot like ’[name_f]Merry[/name_f] Death’ or ‘Married Death’. I’m not a fan of [name_f]Bel[/name_f]/[name_f]Belle[/name_f]/[name_f]Bella[/name_f] or ‘[name_f]Maddy[/name_f]’ names. We have completely different naming styles which is making this so much harder.

Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

[name_f]Merida[/name_f]
[name_f]Meriel[/name_f]

One syllable names might work:
[name_f]Eve[/name_f]
[name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_f]Faith[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Hope[/name_f]
[name_f]Grace[/name_f]

Some longer names that could work
[name_f]Sabrina[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]*
[name_f]Bethany[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f]
[name_f]Angela[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_f]Veronica[/name_f]
and
[name_f]Laura[/name_f]
Good [name_m]Luck[/name_m]!

I would go super feminine since your sons have unisex names. [name_m]How[/name_m] about:

[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Catherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
[name_f]Margot[/name_f]
[name_f]Greta[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]

From the other suggestions of berries, I particularly adore - [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], [name_f]Stella[/name_f], and [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] to go with your son’s names.

Suggestions

[name_f]Elsa[/name_f]
[name_f]Adele[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f]
[name_f]Miranda[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Lillian[/name_f]

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] some of these help.

I marked my favorites with [name_u]Bentley[/name_u], [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m], [name_u]Easton[/name_u], and [name_u]Schuyler[/name_u] with a *. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.

Good luck!

Sweet, charming, and sophisticated and maybe with similarities to [name_u]Meredith[/name_u].

[name_f]Natalia[/name_f]
[name_f]Clarissa[/name_f]
[name_f]Jillian[/name_f]

Thank you all so much. We are liking many your suggestions. Sadly [name_u]Nik[/name_u] is now vetoing all ‘[name_f]Flower[/name_f]’ names.(I think he’s met one too many [name_f]Lily[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosie[/name_f]/Violets and is put off.)

We do like [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] & [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]. They were all on our original list. We also like [name_f]Miranda[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f] & [name_f]Bethany[/name_f](Is it too close to [name_u]Bentley[/name_u]?). The names we love but can’t use for various reasons are [name_f]Angela[/name_f](Brothers ex we call ‘Voldermort’), [name_u]Marley[/name_u](I have a cousin named [name_f]Marlie[/name_f].), [name_f]Adeline[/name_f](4 cousins with various spellings), [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f](My close cousin. Like a sister.) & [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]/[name_u]Aubrey[/name_u](Our two nieces)

We do tend to like longer first names and shorter middle names. Thats about all we agree on at this point.

[name_f]Bethany[/name_f] is a little similar to [name_u]Bentley[/name_u]. Something similar might be [name_f]Amberly[/name_f], [name_u]Avery[/name_u], [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u] (still a little close, and a [name_f]Belle[/name_f] name, so…), [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u], [name_u]Delaney[/name_u], [name_u]Ellery[/name_u], [name_u]Hillary[/name_u], [name_f]Jessamy[/name_f], [name_f]Mallory[/name_f], [name_f]Melody[/name_f], [name_f]Romilly[/name_f], [name_f]Sidonie[/name_f], [name_f]Verity[/name_f], and [name_u]Waverly[/name_u]. Actually, [name_f]Mallory[/name_f] feels very similar to [name_f]Bethany[/name_f] to me. But, with B, M, E, and S, I like [name_f]Amberly[/name_f], [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u], [name_f]Romilly[/name_f], and [name_u]Waverly[/name_u] best.

Wondering if you like [name_f]Angela[/name_f], [name_u]Marley[/name_u], [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], and [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] if you might also like [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], [name_f]Evangelia[/name_f], [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f], [name_f]Mara[/name_f], [name_f]Marney[/name_f], [name_f]Adela[/name_f], [name_f]Delia[/name_f], [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], [name_f]Coraline[/name_f], [name_f]Rosaline[/name_f], [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f], or [name_f]Jenna[/name_f]?

You’re pulling out many classic longer names! So, maybe [name_f]Abigail[/name_f], [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_f]Elena[/name_f], [name_f]Helena[/name_f], [name_f]Lucia[/name_f], [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], [name_f]Regina[/name_f], [name_f]Susannah[/name_f], [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], or [name_f]Veronica[/name_f]?

“[name_u]Baby[/name_u] [name_f]Princess[/name_f]” was originally [name_f]Delilah[/name_f](The only name we agreed on) but my [name_m]SIL[/name_m] stole it from us about three/four weeks ago. [name_u]Nik[/name_u] says [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] & [name_f]Delia[/name_f](And anything else that sounds close) are out. He is a lot more picky then me.

[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], [name_u]Delaney[/name_u], [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], Maitilda, [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f], [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] & [name_f]Veronica[/name_f] were on our ‘monster list’ too. We still like [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] & [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]. I like [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] but its just too close to my name. [name_u]Avery[/name_u] is a family name but only with the boys.

Our last name sounds like hale-ski so ‘H’ names sound really heavy so we had to eliminate some others we like, [name_f]Hadleigh[/name_f], [name_f]Hayleigh[/name_f], [name_f]Hannah[/name_f], [name_f]Hazelle[/name_f], [name_f]Holiday[/name_f]([name_u]Nik[/name_u]’s nod to [name_u]Christmas[/name_u]) & [name_f]Hope[/name_f]. He also likes the more creative/unique/out-of-the-box spellings he calls ‘special‘. I prefer normal/original spellings.

Maybe:

[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Marjorie[/name_f]
[name_f]Calla[/name_f]
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f]
[name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]
[name_u]Clare[/name_u]
[name_f]Adrienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] ([name_f]Maggie[/name_f]?)
[name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f]
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]

Okay, yea, I definitely see where you’re coming from with your last name. A little tough with H names. Let me see what else I can throw out - you had so many on your giant list!

[name_f]Clarissa[/name_f]
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f]
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]
[name_f]Leila[/name_f]
[name_f]Alexia[/name_f]

I think [name_u]Nik[/name_u] is being so difficult because he wants me to give up and let him name her. I’m just afraid if I do let him(again) we will end up with another _ley ski or Sky _ski or something no one can say/spell. Or even worse, a name I hate.

He doesn’t like [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] because it has [name_f]Delia[/name_f] in it, [name_f]Leila[/name_f] is close to [name_f]Lila[/name_f] which is part of [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], [name_f]Alexia[/name_f] and all [name_u]Alex[/name_u] names are NOW all of a sudden, too close to [name_m]Alik[/name_m], [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f](Which he once loved) has ‘scar’ in it, [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f](Which I like) is his late mother’s name(I don‘t know why he doesn‘t want us to name our daughter after her now. It‘s been on our list for awhile). [name_f]Clarissa[/name_f] is too close to the ‘name thief‘(I do agree here), [name_f]Juliet[/name_f](I like) will forever be looking for [name_m]Romeo[/name_m](He really did say this), [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] is too close to margarine(He said the same thing about [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] but I think that was bit of a stretch), [name_f]Calla[/name_f] makes him think of [name_f]Lilies[/name_f] which are flowers. He just doesn’t like [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] & [name_u]Clare[/name_u] for no reason at all.

[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] does have a bad association for me(One of the mean girls at school along with [name_f]Maddy[/name_f], [name_f]Monica[/name_f] & [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f].) He also has a half-brother named [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] so [name_f]Adrianne[/name_f] is out even though I do like it.

I do appreciate your help and I apologize for my stubborn husband and all he crazy reasoning’s for not liking names.

Ha! Oh, husbands! Huh. What would he say if you asked him to give you a list of the five names he would want to use for this baby girl?

It looks like you guys are liking [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], [name_f]Miranda[/name_f], [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], etc., yes? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think any of those could be “the one,” or is he still pushing back? You guys definitely seem to like girly names, or at least he did at one time and you still do (ha!), so what about a shorter version like [name_f]Anya[/name_f] (instead of [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]) which still feels unique and fun? Heck, you could spell it [name_f]Anja[/name_f] if you wanted to - it’s totally legit. Same thing for something like [name_f]Katya[/name_f] or [name_f]Katia[/name_f]. A cool name, related to a classic, that feels fresh and interesting with your boys’ names.

I’m bummed about [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] and [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]! Especially [name_f]Gemma[/name_f]. I love it with your kiddos’ names!

What about a name that means “princess” for your [name_u]Baby[/name_u] [name_f]Princess[/name_f]? No, seriously. There are some that look and sound a little trendy or ‘unique,’ as your husband might say - for instance [name_f]Maelie[/name_f], which sounds like [name_f]Miley[/name_f] or [name_f]May[/name_f]-[name_u]Lee[/name_u] - that are legitimate names. Or, there are the striking, feminine choices that I could see fitting your needs:

[name_f]Orla[/name_f]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]
[name_f]Sela[/name_f]
[name_f]Sari[/name_f]
[name_f]Soraya[/name_f]
[name_f]Zara[/name_f]

(I am seriously obsessed with [name_f]Sela[/name_f] lately, and [name_f]Zara[/name_f] for awhile, and [name_f]Orla[/name_f] feels very fresh to me, but quirky. But [name_f]Soraya[/name_f] has potential, too!)

Your husband sounds a lot like mine! He has too many great aunts - [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], [name_f]Lola[/name_f], all names I love and am forbidden to use because he wants our baby to have her/his OWN name, not anyone else’s.

What about [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]? I like how it sounds with your last name.

He likes [name_f]Bella[/name_f]/[name_f]Ella[/name_f] names and I don’t. He likes to take two random names a squish them together, which drives me crazy.

We both do sort of like [name_f]Maelie[/name_f], but said with some of our little nieces, nephews and cousins it gets a bit jumbled and confusing. Great-Grandma has forbidden any more ‘M’ names in the family.(I think she was joking but I’m not sure.)

I might have to do some research on ‘[name_f]Princess[/name_f]’ names. That’s a great idea. Maybe he’ll go for one of them. I might even let him use a ‘special’ spelling if I find a reasonable one.

Good luck with your princess name research! I think it’s a sweet idea. [name_f]Maelie[/name_f] is fun - I like the “[name_f]Mae[/name_f]-[name_u]Lee[/name_u]” pronunciation, because [name_f]Mae[/name_f] is a cute nickname. I do think really any [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] variant, like [name_f]Sarai[/name_f], [name_f]Sariah[/name_f], [name_f]Sarina[/name_f], [name_f]Sarita[/name_f], etc., works.

If [name_u]Nik[/name_u] likes “smoosh” names - really, they’re compound names - maybe you could find a compromise that doesn’t look random as you say (because some really do). Something like [name_f]Annalee[/name_f], [name_f]Emmalee[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalia[/name_f], [name_f]Adella[/name_f], [name_f]Annabeth[/name_f]? I think [name_f]Annalee[/name_f] is actually pretty cute!
