I’m due in 12 days and am a complete loss for a name. A little bit of background on how I got here. 1st I started out a little too picky and shot down like every name that I didn’t come up with myself, second I wanted to use my grandfathers name who just recently passed away but as selfish as this may sound I can’t wrap my head around using it because I simply do NOT like the name and I also feel like using it as a middle name it just doesn’t go with my sons name. I wanted something short and sweet like my first son’s name. So I’m wiping the slate clean and starting completely over my ONLY criteria is to [name]LOVE[/name] the name like I do my son’s name and I do kind of want a 1 syllable middle name. My son is named Keian [name]Tate[/name] (Keian pronounced Key-in)
Some names we or I definitely like but I just don’t think are it…
[name]Lennox[/name] nn [name]Knox[/name](number one name hubby and I agree on)
[name]Nolan[/name](starting to become my favorite)
[name]Luca[/name](hubby not a fan)
Zayven(Not a name but I just love how it sounds)(I don’t care for [name]Xavier[/name] and [name]Zayden[/name])
[name]Jonah[/name] [name]Kai[/name](I [name]LOVE[/name] how this flows but it’s not what I want)
I also looooooove [name]Matteo[/name] nn [name]Teo[/name](one of hubbys favorite names) but it is becoming far to popular
I like [name]Dexter[/name] nn [name]Dex[/name]( hubby thinks it’s weird bc of the show)
Berries you’re my ONLY hope…hubby is about sick to death of me being indecisive and no real help at all. I wanted to find something we both loved because I felt like that was fair but at this point he’s doesn’t give any new input just basically says he doesn’t really like anything I say. So I’m starting over and looking to find the perfect combo with Keian [name]Tate[/name]! Also any advice on how to not be so picky. I just feel as though nothing comes close to the love I have for my sons name!
From your list I like [name]Nolan[/name] the most. It has a great meaning and it isn’t overly popular. It also has a handsome ring to it.
Other names I think go well with Keian:
[name]Griffin[/name]
[name]Boden[/name]
[name]Damon[/name]
[name]Gabriel[/name]
[name]Edwin[/name]
[name]Devon[/name]
I actually really like [name]Damon[/name] although we have a first cousin named [name]Damon[/name]. Not really into the others I think they just aren’t really my style. But thank you for your suggestions very much appreciated!
I love [name]Jonah[/name] [name]Kai[/name] and I think [name]Lennox[/name] would be a good choice for Keian’s brother. Here are some suggestions from different styles.
[name]Arden[/name]: this incorporates the first sound from your grandfather’s name, with a smooth -en ending like Keian and Zayven. [name]Arden[/name] is a famous forest in [name]England[/name], which [name]Shakespeare[/name] used to set 2 of his plays.
Arius- again, the Ar starting sound like your grandfather. It means “immortal”
[name]Arran[/name]-- a beautiful island off the coast of [name]Scotland[/name]
[name]Callen[/name]: Irish for “powerful in battle”
[name]Carsten[/name]: Danish form of “[name]Christian[/name]” with a modern sound
[name]Ronan[/name]: Irish name meaning “a little seal”
[name]Adrian[/name]: beautiful classic Italian boys’ name, derived from the [name]Roman[/name] emperor [name]Hadrian[/name]
Tirian / Tyrian: this is name from the Chronicles of [name]Narnia[/name]-- one of the kings. It has a beautiful, modern sound.
With any of these names I would use [name]Matteo[/name] as a middle. It pairs perfectly:
[name]Mischa[/name] a few that I really like…
[name]Asa[/name]–I like but is I feel there’s not enough name there if that makes sense
[name]Abram[/name]–one that hubby and I loved but for some reason I don’t think it’s it.
[name]Jude[/name]–like but hubby doesn’t
[name]Declan[/name]–Probably my favorite I love the look and sound of it
[name]Maddox[/name]–love but hubby pronounces it funny like MaddEEEx. I don’t know why.
[name]Blade[/name]…
I love [name]Callen[/name] like A LOT. but is it too matchy with Keian? I also like that it is Irish because although I didn’t spell Keian the traditional [name]Cian[/name] way it is also Irish. I find that I like a lot of K names or C names with the K sound but I don’t want to start a trend with “k”.
I sort of like [name]Carsten[/name] but to me it sounds like a smush name of some sort with [name]Carson[/name]. And I’m not sure how to pronounce Tyrian? I like [name]Ronan[/name] but like [name]Roman[/name] better and I can’t use that it’s already used by friends. [name]Adrian[/name] gives off a feminine vibe now due to the fact my best friend almost named her little girl that.
Thanks for all the suggestions!! I love them keep them coming please!!!
Forgot to mention though I like the thought of incorporating the Ar- sound [name]Arden[/name] is to abrupt for me and hubby’s name is [name]Aron[/name] which nixes [name]Arran[/name] and I don’t really care for Arius.
[name]Callen[/name] and Keian are admittedly close, but not too close imo. [name]Glad[/name] you like it.
Tirian is pronounced TEER-ee-an
Some more Ar- thoughts:
[name]Kearney[/name]: Irish name meaning “soldier, victorious”- has ARN tucked inside
[name]Warner[/name]: old [name]German[/name] name; also has ARN inside
[name]Archer[/name]: a bowman
[name]Arlen[/name] / [name]Arland[/name]: Irish for “pledge, oath”
[name]Arrigo[/name]: old Italian form of [name]Henry[/name]
[name]Carlo[/name]: Italian form of [name]Charles[/name]
[name]Connar[/name]: slightly different spelling of [name]Connor[/name], which contains A-R-N-O
[name]Darian[/name]: poetic term for part of Central [name]America[/name]
[name]Jared[/name]: biblical name
[name]Marco[/name]: Italian form of [name]Mark[/name]
You also like smooth Irish names, like [name]Callen[/name] & Keian:
Ok so I slept on some of the names I like and so far my number one pick is [name]Callan[/name] I’m just afraid it’s way to close to Keian. The beginning and ending are the same sound. Number two is [name]Declan[/name]. I also stumbled upon [name]Omri[/name] and I really like it I just read that it was an evil king or something negative and I’m not sure I want that attached to my babys name. So instead of [name]Omri[/name] hubby suggested [name]Omari[/name]. Opinions?
[name]Callen[/name] is a great, smooth Irish name. I think if you spell [name]Callen[/name] with an e it looks less similar to Keian. Also, if you choose a middle name quite different from [name]Tate[/name] (i.e. Wesling or [name]Matteo[/name]) it will really make the names look different. Finally, in everyday life you might call him ‘[name]Cal[/name],’ which is not at all similar to Keian.
[name]Declan[/name] is a great, fun, lilting Irish name. I’m glad you like it.
[name]Omri[/name] is a Hebrew name meaning “my shield.” In the Old Testament he was one of the bad kings of [name]Israel[/name] and is spoken of negatively; the name was also used for the hero of a popular children’s book, The [name]Indian[/name] in the Cupboard.
[name]Omari[/name] is made up, if that bothers you. It’s the real name of the rapper [name]Omarion[/name], and his parents invented it. [name]Omar[/name] on the other hand is an awesome name-- very multicultural and underused.
Yeah I can’t do [name]Omri[/name] or [name]Omari[/name] but I do like them both. Right now I’m leaning towards [name]Declan[/name] because I think the similarity of Keian and [name]Callen[/name] is just too much. [name]Even[/name] though [name]Callen[/name] is by far my favorite choice. Thanks for all the input [name]Blade[/name] I really appreciate it!!
[name]Declan[/name] is a great name and will match brother Keian very well.
I like it paired with [name]Matteo[/name]-- [name]Declan[/name] [name]Matteo[/name] is very striking and flows beautifully.
If you’d like to honor your grandfather, in my opinion [name]Declan[/name] Wesling doesn’t work-- it repeats too many sounds. Would you be open to the French version of [name]Arnold[/name]-- [name]Arnaud[/name], pronounced ar-KNOW? [name]Declan[/name] [name]Arnaud[/name] is very handsome and again flows perfectly.
Otherwise-- [name]Declan[/name] [name]Lennox[/name] is striking; [name]Declan[/name] [name]Finlay[/name], [name]Declan[/name] [name]Lucas[/name], [name]Declan[/name] [name]Jonas[/name], [name]Declan[/name] [name]Wyatt[/name] or even [name]Declan[/name] [name]Kai[/name] would all work.
