Stella, Estelle, Estella, Estrella or Star?

Hey! I’m actually not having a kid, this is more of a character thing for a story but I still needed some name opinions. My character is going to be one of the names on top, but I like all of them okay, but I don’t know which one is better. This is my first time posting on this site because I usually go on Behind the Name, so here we go

Currently:

[name_f]Stella[/name_f] - Simple, but kind of basic. Not my favorite, but it’s okay.

[name_f]Estelle[/name_f] - Pretty but too [name_m]French[/name_m], so it seems more old fashion like [name_f]Ann[/name_f].

[name_f]Estella[/name_f] - Seems kind of tacky, like they just added an a to [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] or an e to [name_f]Stella[/name_f]. Also doesn’t sound right without an r.

[name_f]Estrella[/name_f] - The Spanish word for [name_f]Star[/name_f] since it is my language, surprisingly a cognate for [name_f]Stella[/name_f], and it sounds really pretty, but it’s a word name, which I’m not a huge fan of.

[name_f]Star[/name_f] - Pretty word, not really a fan of word names as mentioned.

So what do you think? Which one is better?

I think [name_f]Stella[/name_f] is nice, but maybe too common for a character?

My favorite would be [name_f]Estrella[/name_f]. And I don’t think it would feel like a word name to others who don’t have Spanish as a first language. Like [name_f]Luna[/name_f], everyone know it means moon but it’s doesn’t t feel like a word name (?)
So [name_f]Estrella[/name_f] is beautiful

To be completely honest, I think [name_f]Star[/name_f] would be a little tacky and cheap for a story (Sorry not trying to be rude )

I agree on what you said about both [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Estella[/name_f]. Though I don’t think it’s wrong that it’s old fashioned

[name_f]Edit[/name_f]: Also what sort of family is she from and where does she live? Maybe it would be a little strange (?) if a girl in an all American family in [name_u]Tennessee[/name_u] named [name_f]Estrella[/name_f]? Lol bad example but you get the point

She comes from a Japanese background, so I hope that gives you more information.

If her parents are Japanese then they’d probably choose a name well known in the US/UK/wherever your story takes place, so [name_f]Stella[/name_f] or [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]. Obviously not everyone does it but most immigrant parents I know do. If her family has been in the US for a while then I could see [name_f]Estella[/name_f] being an option as well, though not [name_f]Estrella[/name_f] or [name_f]Star[/name_f].

Between [name_f]Stella[/name_f] and [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] I prefer [name_f]Estelle[/name_f], since [name_f]Stella[/name_f] is so popular your character wouldn’t stand out as much, I’m sure there are a lot of Stellas in other books/comics/TV shows/etc. Also, I don’t think it sounds old fashioned. On the page for it, nameberry says it has been rising in the ranks in recent years so I personally don’t find it old fashioned, not like [name_f]Ann[/name_f].

My thought’s exactly! Very well put.
