Hey! I heard the name Stelladora a year or so ago, and I can’t get it out of my head. As far as I know, it’s made up, but it looks so sophisticated (to me). It has great nickname potential, and combines two names I really like, [name_f]Stella[/name_f] and [name_f]Adora[/name_f]. What do y’all think? Potential nicknames?
Stelladora. It’s quite pretty. It has an elegant feel for me too but doesn’t loose its fun. Does make me wonder which syllables are stressed though. Three of its four vowels are long vowels so it sounds a bit cumbersome with equal stressing. I would suggest (stel-la-DOR-a).
Overall, I think it works. I agree with you, it seems to be a blended invention but it’s totally wearable next to [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] and [name_f]Theodora[/name_f]. Names have been blended in the past and are now considered genuine names like [name_f]Maribelle[/name_f], [name_f]Luella[/name_f], [name_f]Aubriella[/name_f], [name_f]Annabeth[/name_f] and the more recent [name_f]Stellaluna[/name_f]. I’ve also found a flower with a very similar name [name_f]Stella[/name_f] d’[name_m]Oro[/name_m] Daylily.
So many nickname options: [name_f]Stella[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Elly[/name_f], [name_f]Elle[/name_f], [name_f]Star[/name_f], [name_f]Adora[/name_f], [name_f]Dora[/name_f], [name_u]Dory[/name_u], [name_f]Addy[/name_f], [name_f]Ada[/name_f], [name_f]Laura[/name_f]
I actually quite like it. It’s intriguing though a very bold choice
I love [name_f]Stella[/name_f] and [name_f]Dora[/name_f] repsectably and as nn.
I’d also consider [name_f]Sadie[/name_f], [name_f]Essie[/name_f], [name_f]Elora[/name_f] and [name_f]Star[/name_f] as nn
It’s pretty but far too over the top for me. I’m not a big fan of it, but only because I personally could never pull it off. If your taste is generally bolder, then I don’t see a problem.
I’m personally not fond of Stelladora. A parent cannot guarantee a child loving the name they choose for them but I personally would rather have a more “average” (for lack of a better word) name than an over-the-top name. I’m sorry but this would be a type of name that I would ask to go by a nickname and hope people, especially other children when I was growing up, ended up not learning my real name.
I have my fun lists that I personally would never give to an actual real person and then my “would actually” use list.
I disagree that it is not usable. We don’t know what kind of women our daughters will grow into. If she is outgoing and quirky with a flair for the dramatic then Stelladora is fantastic. If she is the the more shy, hesitant type then [name_f]Stella[/name_f] is lovely and suitable. If she is transgender then Stell is cool and fashionable. We tend to name them with an idea of what WE want to project into their future. Not what will naturally develop.
To me, what makes a name “usable” is it’s versatility. If it gives your child options, then I think it’s a go.
It’s not my style but I could see the appeal. However, it makes me think of the brand of breadsticks with almost the same name! But you may not have them where you are.
