We are expecting a son, due in [name_f]September[/name_f], who will be the brother to big sis [name_f]Tove[/name_f] (pronounced like [name_f]Tova[/name_f]). My husband and I both really love the name [name_m]Stellan[/name_m] and feel like it works well as a sibset with [name_f]Tove[/name_f]. Since our taste in names is a bit out of the mainstream, we tend to not really share because of the discouraging comments, but this time around we did mention [name_m]Stellan[/name_m] to a few close family members. The response has been fairly mixed. My brother thinks it is “pretty rad,” but my mom knows someone with a daughter named Stellyn, so she has a hard time thinking of it as a masculine name, while sister-in-law thinks it is a mature sounding name and thinks it will be hard for a little boy to carry. Looking through online commentary, it seems as though a lot of people describe the name as sounding “made up” or too similar to [name_f]Stella[/name_f], and therefore feminine. My husband and I have both fallen in love with the name, but I want to make sure I’m not saddling my son with something too out there. What do you guys think?
I love [name_m]Stellan[/name_m]. It’s a gorgeous name. But if you are concerned [name_u]Dexter[/name_u] , [name_m]Samson[/name_m] or [name_m]Kellan[/name_m] would be good alternatives
I love [name_m]Stellan[/name_m] and I think it fits brilliantly with [name_f]Tove[/name_f].
It’s a great name - it feels starry but also fairly down to earth and I think it fits in with other names that are popular at the moment. It reminds me of names like [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u], [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] and [name_m]Colton[/name_m] so I don’t think [name_m]Stellan[/name_m] will sound too out there
[name_m]Stellan[/name_m] and [name_f]Tove[/name_f] are such a perfect sibset!
It’s unique but familiar sounding, the -an ending is more popular for boys than it is for girls right now (see [name_u]Logan[/name_u], [name_m]Ethan[/name_m], [name_u]Dylan[/name_u], [name_u]Ryan[/name_u], [name_m]Nathan[/name_m], [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] and [name_u]Evan[/name_u], they’re all in the top 100 whereas in the top 100 for the girls there’s only [name_u]Reagan[/name_u], [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] and [name_f]Lillian[/name_f])
Plus it’s a gorgeous name that’s unique, brings up beautiful imagery and sounds masculine to my ears. Also, I don’t think it’d be hard for a little boy to carry at all!
I like it. I think it fits with [name_f]Tove[/name_f]. [name_m]Stellan[/name_m] Skarsgard is an actor and is who I thought of when I saw the name so that association is masculine. Mention him to your mom and see if her opinion on the name changes.
[name_m]Stellan[/name_m] and [name_f]Tove[/name_f] … What a fantastic sibset. I think [name_m]Stellan[/name_m] is a great name, use it!
It’s not for me, but it’s perfectly on trend for a boy.
[name_f]Tove[/name_f] and [name_m]Stellan[/name_m] are amazing together! [name_m]Stellan[/name_m] is completely masculine to me.
[name_m]Stellan[/name_m] is a fabulous name and honestly I don’t put any stock into the comments of people who get overly caught up on the “masculinity” or “femininity” of a name.
[name_m]Stellan[/name_m] is very handsome.
[name_m]Stellan[/name_m] and [name_f]Tove[/name_f] go brilliantly together–I wouldn’t worry about it being too effeminate. [name_m]Stellan[/name_m] has always been strictly boy to me.
I love the name [name_m]Stellan[/name_m]! I don’t think it’s a too mature-sounding name, and even if it was, your kid is going to grow into an adult one day, so maybe mature isn’t bad.
[name_f]Tove[/name_f] and [name_m]Stellan[/name_m] fit together perfectly! If you love it then you should use it
Gorgeous name!! [name_m]Stellan[/name_m] and [name_f]Tove[/name_f] make a beautiful sibset
I absolutely love both [name_m]Stellan[/name_m] and [name_f]Tove[/name_f], what a great pair!
[name_m]Stellan[/name_m] reminds me a bit of [name_m]Soren[/name_m], and that might be another one to consider (also goes well with [name_f]Tove[/name_f], in my opinion). I think it’s probably a little more stereotypically masculine sounding (though I don’t think [name_m]Stellan[/name_m] is too feminine!).
I think [name_m]Stellan[/name_m] is utterly gorgeous, especially with big sister [name_f]Tove[/name_f]! Look no further
I love [name_m]Stellan[/name_m], it is perfect with [name_f]Tove[/name_f].
