Sterling

I’ve always thought [name]Sterling[/name] was a very cool name, but kept it as a GP because it seemed too “over the top” (says the woman who’s had the name [name]Apollo[/name] chosen for 10 years).

Tonight, I was about to text the baby’s dad suggesting “[name]Sterling[/name]”, but was hesitating, when a text message from him popped up and said “[name]Sterling[/name]”. It was REALLY weird (considering he goes for much more “normal” names), and we both said we loved it but thought it might be “too much”.

But thinking about it…I can see the name “[name]Sterling[/name]” on a doctor just as much as I can see it on a rock star, teacher, actor, etc. and on a child, teenager, adult, and elderly man.

[name]Do[/name] you think [name]Sterling[/name] is usable, even if it’s not really your style? Or is it too ridiculous? Also, do you think the [name]Archer[/name] connection is too much? I doubt that will be a problem in a few years, but a lot of my friends watch the show and will probably make comments on it.

I used to know boy named [name]Sterling[/name] and it fit him rather well. But, because of him, whenever I think of [name]Sterling[/name], I see a boy with long-ish, straight, deep brown hair with eyes to match and a lanky fram.

[name]Sterling[/name] has also been on my Top 20 list for some time now. I love it. (My favorite combo is [name]Sterling[/name] [name]Campbell[/name].)

I actually knew someone by the name of, [name]Sterling[/name]. Middle school kids thought his name was kind of cool. I am not familiar with the [name]Archer[/name] reference you speak of, so I will not comment on it. (Unless you meant the show, [name]Arrow[/name].) I actually had it on my list as an homage to my mom. She cannot get of sterling silver jewelry.

Overall, I believe [name]Sterling[/name] is very usable, do you have a middle name in mind?

I don’t know what connection you’re talking about at all, so hopefully that’s a good sign.

[name]Sterling[/name] actually sounds like a classic, almost “WASP-y” name, if you will. I mean that in the best possible way, haha. I actually think it’s quite handsome!

I think it’s so handsome!! I’m gonna suggest it to my boyfriend

I have no connections besides that my brother wants to use this for his future son–I think it’s a handsome name. I really like it!

Spooky! That is a sign for sure. It is not over the top-I know a [name]Sterling[/name]. (I am a teacher so be fair I know a lot of people with different names)! He is a very cool guy-sporty and fun.

I like [name]Sterling[/name]. It is definitely usable. I only associate it with a voice actor from the original [name]Winnie[/name] the Pooh; I think it was Pooh’s voice but it may have been the narrator. It’s my son’s favorite movie so I’ve seen the credits a million times.

I think [name]Sterling[/name] is great. I recently added it to my boys list. The only connection I think of is [name]Roger[/name] [name]Sterling[/name] from Mad Men, but that’s a pretty good connection! I have no idea what [name]Archer[/name]/[name]Sterling[/name] is. I think you’re right about the name being equally usable for a doctor or a rock star!

I absolutely think [name]Sterling[/name] is useable. I know a 20-year-old [name]Sterling[/name] and I haven’t ever heard anyone comment negatively on his name. Go for it! It’s a great name!

Thanks everyone! I don’t have a middle name in mind, yet! I like middle names to have either family meaning or some historical/literature/art significance.

(and [name]Sterling[/name] [name]Archer[/name] is the name of the main character on the TV show “[name]Archer[/name]” - which a lot of my friends watch regularly.)

The name [name]Sterling[/name] is great! I know a 20ish aged guy named [name]Sterling[/name] and it fits him well. He is a cowboy, and is one of the nicest, most hardworking guys I have ever met. Great name, go for it! That’s especially awesome that you both seem to love it!

My immediate thoughts were of our currency and the Scottish city, so I don’t like myself and it and wouldn’t recommend it this side of the pond. But for a non-[name]Brit[/name] kid I daresay it’s useable.

I love it! And you are right, it does seem very versatile.
