Stick to the pattern or go off course for baby #4

We are expecting our fourth little person the end of [name]April[/name]/beginning of [name]May[/name]. We know that this is our last baby and she will be a girl. All of my kids names have a pretty distinctive pattern. Short first name, very traditional middle name that comes from people who are important to us, followed by a family maiden name. Our last name is is long, 3 syllables, starts with a “T” and ends with the “ee” sound.

[name]Lily[/name] [name]Kathryn[/name] [name]Ivey/name [name]Lily[/name] wasn’t quite so popular 13 years ago!
[name]Dax[/name] [name]Henry[/name] Bender(6)
[name]Finn[/name] [name]Patrick[/name] Callihan(4)

If I was choosing totally for the sibset I would go with [name]Eva[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Page[/name]. This was actually supposed to be [name]Finn[/name]'s name, but [name]Eva[/name] has grown so much in popularity that between it and [name]Ava[/name] I hear it all the time and I’m not sure I love it the way I did 4 years ago.

Our top first name choices are ~

[name]Annabel[/name]
[name]Clara[/name]
[name]Eva[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name]*
[name]Juliet[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name]
[name]Mirabel[/name]
[name]Scarlett[/name]*
[name]Violet[/name]*

*these have recently been used by friends or neighbors and although we really like them, they are probably out.

Right now we are really leaning towards [name]Juliet[/name]. My only issue is there is not a nickname that I like for [name]Juliet[/name]. None of our other kids go by a nickname except cutesy things that we call them like Daxer & Finny…but these aren’t things they’d be called at school.

Middle name options that fit our “pattern”~

[name]Amelia[/name]
[name]Caroline[/name]
[name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Grace[/name]
[name]Joy[/name]
[name]Sarah[/name]

Middle name that is really pulling me that does not fit our “pattern”~

Elorah ~ means God is light or God is my light

It is a combination of [name]Elaine[/name] and [name]Deborah[/name], which are our mother’s names.

Third name choices ~

[name]Page[/name] (90% sure this is the one we will use)
Hanville
Goodhue

I’d love to hear what you think!

Right now the name the pulls most at my heart is [name]Juliet[/name] Elorah [name]Page[/name], but is it just too far off from the others? Knowing she is the last one, should we just stick to the patterns or is it ok to go a little off course? I’d also like to know what you think about Elorah.

Thanks for your help!

I love the meaning of Elorah! [name]Juliet[/name] Elorah [name]Page[/name] is beautiful, since it’s your last I say use it. I wouldn’t pick a name solely to fit into a sibset, in my personal opinion choosing a name you love is more important than picking one that ‘fits’ perfectly.
HTH!

I love the combo of [name]Juliet[/name] [name]Elora[/name] [name]Paige[/name]. First up [name]Juliet[/name] and [name]Paige[/name] are two of my favourite names, and believe it or not after being a complete name nerd for eons I have never heard of Elorah before.

I have googled and only found it spelt as [name]Elora[/name] which I feel gives it a slightly lighter feel than if you added the ‘h’. I also spell [name]Page[/name] as [name]Paige[/name] because I think it is more girly, (and even if [name]Page[/name] is a family name you are able to have some naming licence to add charm to the combo).

Now I think [name]Elora[/name] is a real find, wow, this is a beauty that you definitely SHOULD use, and of course the lovely meaning just adds to the mix.

I love, love, love [name]Juliet[/name] and think any little girl would be over the moon to own such a beautiful name. I think that the nn of [name]Jules[/name] would be super cute but I know a [name]Juliet[/name] and she never gets a nickname.

I am not going to go further onto your list of options because I think this combo has hit the jackpot!

Please let us know your final decision and please post on birth announcements when she arrives.

best wishes,

rollo

I think [name]Juliet[/name] Elorah [name]Page[/name] is beautiful and goes really well with her siblings. [name]Juliet[/name] is one of my favorite names. Gorgeous! Other combos I like are [name]Eva[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] [name]Page[/name] and [name]Eve[/name] Elorah [name]Page[/name]. Good luck!

I love Elorah [name]Page[/name] as middle name! Gorgeous. I think [name]Lily[/name], [name]Dax[/name], [name]Finn[/name] and [name]Juliet[/name] are fine together, although I will admit that I’m not a fan of [name]Juliet[/name] as a name but that is just a personal preference! Of your other choices I like [name]Lucy[/name] but is too much with a [name]Lily[/name] already. The names on your list ending in A are a bit much with Elorah next to them although [name]Scarlett[/name] and [name]Violet[/name] sound good with that middle! Here are some ideas you may like which I think fit with your other children and sound super next to Elorah [name]Page[/name]:
[name]Iris[/name] Elorah [name]Page[/name] ([name]Lily[/name], [name]Dax[/name], [name]Finn[/name] and [name]Iris[/name])
[name]Rose[/name] Elorah [name]Page[/name] ([name]Lily[/name], [name]Dax[/name], [name]Finn[/name] and [name]Rose[/name])
[name]Sophie[/name] Elorah [name]Page[/name] ([name]Lily[/name], [name]Dax[/name], [name]Finn[/name] and [name]Sophie[/name])
[name]Jasmine[/name] Elorah [name]Page[/name] ([name]Lily[/name], [name]Dax[/name], [name]Finn[/name] and [name]Jasmine[/name])
[name]Chloe[/name] Elorah [name]Page[/name] ([name]Lily[/name], [name]Dax[/name], [name]Finn[/name] and [name]Chloe[/name])
[name]Sadie[/name] Elorah [name]Page[/name] ([name]Lily[/name], [name]Dax[/name], [name]Finn[/name] and [name]Sadie[/name])
[name]Alice[/name] Elorah [name]Page[/name] ([name]Lily[/name], [name]Dax[/name], [name]Finn[/name] and [name]Alice[/name])
[name]Ivy[/name] Elorah [name]Page[/name] ([name]Lily[/name], [name]Dax[/name], [name]Finn[/name] and [name]Ivy[/name])
[name]Holly[/name] Elorah [name]Page[/name] (([name]Lily[/name], [name]Dax[/name], [name]Finn[/name] and [name]Holly[/name])

If you really love [name]Juliet[/name] Elorah [name]Page[/name] then go for it!

[name]Hope[/name] that helps, [name]Rachel[/name] x

What about [name]Juliet[/name] “[name]Jules[/name]”? I really like [name]Lily[/name], [name]Dax[/name], [name]Finn[/name], and [name]Jules[/name] together. I think if you love the name [name]Juliet[/name] you should use it. It sounds good with your kids names imo.

[name]Just[/name] wanted to add that I think [name]Etta[/name] is an adorable nn for [name]Juliet[/name]!

I love love love it! I think it fits in great with the others. The pattern is more of a guideline then something that should hold you back. Go for it!

Thank you all for your help! My husband and I were just sort of goofing off one day combining names when we decided that it was really amusing that if we combined my Dad, [name]Daniel[/name], and his Dad, [name]Roger[/name] we could come up with “[name]Danger[/name]”. When we combined the moms ([name]Elaine[/name] and [name]Deborah[/name]) and came up with Elorah, he snickered, I stopped and thought, wow, that’s kind of pretty. Of course I then started digging to find out if it was a real name and a little info on it. It has really grown on me. I’m excited to see that you guys didn’t think it was crazy. I’m not a huge fan of made up names, but I do like things that are a little out of the norm, the fitting in/standing out kind of names.

I would probably stick to the Elorah and [name]Page[/name] spellings, mostly because we could have toyed with changing spellings before with our other kids, ie…[name]Kathryn[/name] vs [name]Katherine[/name], [name]Ivey[/name] vs [name]Ivy[/name], and Callihan vs [name]Callahan[/name], but we’ve always stuck with the spellings of the people who they were named after. Plus, many moons ago my dad’s sister named her daughter [name]Paige[/name] rather than [name]Page[/name] and he thought that was just ludicrous! He passed away a couple of years ago and [name]Page[/name] is my maiden name but I’d really be using it to honor him and I think he would not be happy if I changed the spelling! =)

I am really not a big fan of [name]Jules[/name] or [name]Julie[/name], but [name]Etta[/name] is really growing on me. When you put [name]Juliet[/name] with Elorah/[name]Eliza[/name]/[name]Amelia[/name]/[name]Elizabeth[/name] you can really get that [name]Etta[/name] sound when you say the whole name.

I think part of my problem is I’ve been name obsessed for so many years…I’ve collected name books for more than 20 years! It’s so much more fun to come up with the names you “would” use rather than the names you actually use! Anyone else have that problem??

If our last name weren’t so difficult to spell and so long I would have used [name]Genevieve[/name] or maybe [name]Clementine[/name] or [name]Evangeline[/name]. As for the other names suggested, I must say [name]Iris[/name], [name]Alice[/name], [name]Sadie[/name], [name]Sophie[/name], [name]Chloe[/name] and [name]Ivy[/name] have all been on name list for one of the kids along the way! [name]Baby[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name] lives in our backyard and baby [name]Violet[/name] lives across the street. It’s too bad I have neighbors with such great baby name tastes! =)

Again, thank you all, I appreciate the input! I don’t want to give away the names we’re leaning towards out to friends yet, so it’s nice to have some unbiased opinions!

[name]Lily[/name], if you end up wussing out on Elorah, [name]Eleanora[/name] is also a combination of [name]Elaine[/name] and [name]Deborah[/name]. It’s a mouthful but definitely solid.

FTR, I’m not one for “sibsets,” but [name]Clara[/name] is my favorite of the names you listed. [name]Juliet[/name] is alright, though!

Wow, I love it! I think it works really well with your other kids’ names. [name]Lily[/name] must be excited to be getting a baby sister - she will be a big help to you!

The name Elorah - wasn’t that the baby’s name in the movie [name]Willow[/name] with [name]Val[/name] Kilmer? Ok, I just googled - the baby was [name]Elora[/name] Danan. I knew it sounded familiar! I always thought that was pretty.

I was going to say the same thing about the [name]Willow[/name] movie and [name]Elora[/name] Dannon! (for some reason I have never forgotten that name) I think [name]Juliet[/name] Elorah [name]Page[/name] is great - another option for your mom’s names is [name]Delaine[/name], [name]Delaney[/name], Delainah - [name]Juliet[/name] [name]Delaney[/name] [name]Page[/name] is nice too!

I really love [name]Juliet[/name] Elorah [name]Page[/name] and I don’t think it’s that far off from your “pattern”. ([name]Even[/name] if it were, I would say use it!) It seems the biggest variance is in the length of [name]Juliet[/name] compared to [name]Lily[/name], [name]Dax[/name] and [name]Finn[/name]. If you are unsure about using a longer name, I love pp’s idea of [name]Eve[/name] Elorah [name]Page[/name], [name]Iris[/name] Elorah [name]Page[/name] and [name]Alice[/name] Elorah [name]Page[/name].

Good luck!

As far as the question at hand: I think you should go with the name you love even it it breaks up the pattern.

However, you mentionned that you last name started with a “T” and since [name]Juliet[/name] ends with a “t” I want to make sure you’ve considered whether they blend together. I think I noticed it b/c my last name begins with a “T” also and we’ve had to rule out [name]Celeste[/name] and [name]Robert[/name] b/c of the issue with the "t"s.
