We are still trying to come up with a name for our second little boy who will be born Nov. 14. We had a short list that is now shorter, but nothing is making us go “Yep, that’s the one!” Here’s what we’re working with:
First names
[name_u]Sullivan[/name_u]–My mother grew up in [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] County, TN, and the name means “dark-eyed”–which she is. I can’t give a little boy her name, so this seemed like a good way to still honor her.
[name_m]Callan[/name_m]–We have several Allens and Alans in the family, just worried it will sound too dated in 10 years.
[name_u]Beau[/name_u]–This would honor a very close family friend and is part of the name of one of our family’s favorite vacation spots. Concerns with this one is that our first son is named Speer (family name), and I worry that people will think we were trying to go for weaponry-based names (which is SO not the case). Our last name also starts with B, and I’m not sure how I feel about the alliteration.
Middle names
[name_m]Gregory[/name_m]–my father’s name
[name_u]Lee[/name_u]–my middle name, my mother’s, my father-in-law’s, my great-grandfather’s…I could go on, but suffice it to say this name goes back a [name_m]LONG[/name_m] way in my family. I don’t want to be the one to end the streak.
Whatever combinations, considerations, etc. you would be willing to offer would be appreciated! We’re just so stuck…and he’ll be here soon!
But I also was thinking [name_m]Callum[/name_m] might be a better choice than [name_m]Callen[/name_m]. In that case, I would choose [name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u].
[name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] or [name_m]Callen[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u]. I also love the suggestion of [name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u]. My first choices would be [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] or [name_m]Callum[/name_m]. I’m not a fan of [name_u]Beau[/name_u] and agree with it not being a great pair with Speer. Speer and [name_m]Callen[/name_m] or [name_m]Callum[/name_m] are the best sibset.
I think [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] is my favorite combo. I love [name_u]Beau[/name_u] [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] and would have picked that as my favorite if I hadn’t read your concern about your first son being named Speer. While I don’t think it’s a deal breaker, I definitely understand the concern and hesitation. [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] is really great.
[name_m]Callan[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] is handsome and cute but I love the sweet family history behind [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] so it gets my vote!
[name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] and Speer sound great together! My top choice would be [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] [name_m]Gregory[/name_m], and the possible nicknames sound just as good - [name_u]Sully[/name_u] & Speer, Speer and [name_u]Van[/name_u].
Second choice is [name_u]Beau[/name_u] [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] and I kind of have a thing for alliteration so [name_u]Beau[/name_u] B. sounds great to me, and I don’t think too many people would make the weapon connection, especially with the ‘-eau’ spelling.
