Still having a hard time choosing

I know you’ve seen my other posts and you’re probably rolling your eyes at me, but I really can’t find name that feels a 100% right. I need help and suggestions on how to find a name that I love.

I loved the name [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] which I cannot use. I like classic names and trendy names. My son’s name is [name_m]Miles[/name_m] Li.ncoln. When I found out I was having a boy I thought we would go with the name [name_u]Corbin[/name_u] as I’ve always loved that name, but it didn’t feel like it was the right name for him. We chose [name_m]Miles[/name_m] because we wanted something classy, but not overly popular, but still familiar. We thought it sounded a little hipster which we liked. His middle name was a last minute decision between [name_m]Landon[/name_m] and [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m]. I loved both names would have used for a first name, but husband didn’t like it and both names are popular and trendy at the moment. I chose [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] because it seems like a strong name and loved the presidential tie LOL

Moving forward…

I have always loved the name [name_f]Ansley[/name_f] for a girl which apparently everyone else hates. I do not care for other variations of this name though that are much more common such as [name_f]Kinsley[/name_f] and [name_u]Ainsley[/name_u]. I worry that it won’t sound as pretty to me in the future. I really do love the sound of [name_f]Ansley[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]. It seems fun and light.

I like [name_u]Everly[/name_u] a bit, but not in love.

I also like [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]. At times, I feel like this name is soft and feminine and then other times the hard R sound seems harsh to me and makes the name sound really heavy.

I love [name_f]Ava[/name_f], but it is very common and feels a little dated as it’s been popular for over ten years now.

I like [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], but with [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] being so, so popular it doesn’t feel unique. I do really like it. It feels soft and feminine.

I also like the name [name_f]Lila[/name_f], but my husband hates it.

[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] is another name that I like, but it reminds me of “The [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f] Letter” which turns me off.

I like [name_f]Isla[/name_f], but feel weird about using it since it would be an obvious steal from a girl at daycare and the daycare is super small. I’ve also been told it clashes with my son’s name. I’m not sure I even love it all that much anyway.

[name_f]Grace[/name_f] is my all time favorite middle name because of it’s meaning which I feel like I have to use it or would otherwise regret not using it. I do realize that [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] do not sound a 100% great together. I might consider something a little more fanciful like [name_f]Willow[/name_f].

[name_f]Ansley[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is absolutely lovely! Other suggestions:[name_f]Lydia[/name_f], Averley, Olydia, Ophia, [name_f]Odessa[/name_f], Naevia,

I absolutely adore Ansley Grace. It’s completely gorgeous, and if you love it, who cares what others think? Your child will do justice for the name to others.

Normally when suggesting how to find names you love, I say to list the names you like in this sort of fashion:
Olivia
Ansley
Aurora
Ava
Sophie
Lila
Scarlett
Isla

Then we can find your style by doing a bit of research on these names, or just looking at them. We can definitely say that you love names that include a softer ‘a’ sound. You also for the most part tend to like names with two syllables. You also seem to like the soft, feminine feel of some names, just by going with what you’ve said about the names you like so far.

Olivia, Aurora and Ava are Latin names, but the rest are from a variety of different cultures. So I would assume you don’t have a preference in that department.
All your favourites seem to be in the range of the top 200, so I would think you like more uncommon names, but names that are still familiar and known right now. To sum it all up, your favourite names should mostly include:

  • A soft ‘a’ sound, feminine feel
  • Two syllables
  • Are inside the top 200
  • Potential Latin background

So, if I got some right, do some research using those name characteristics, perhaps you’ll find names you really love. Here are some that I think you may like, based on those:
Clara
Stella
Viva/Viviana
Ella
Maeva
Calla
Sienna
Nina
Ophelia

I apologize for the long post, but I hope I helped a bit. Good luck!

We have very similar taste in names. Your son and my second boy share the same name. [name_u]Corbin[/name_u] was another name that I had always tossed around as well.

The name that immediately jumped out to me is [name_f]Elodie[/name_f]. I think it is beautiful. Perhaps Eladie would suite you more. Regards - I think they are both stunning.

[name_f]Estelle[/name_f] is the name dh and I had chosen if M was a girl. I loved that is was different but known and I think it so pretty and classic.

I do really like [name_f]Ansley[/name_f] as well. I think it is very pretty.

[name_f]Ansley[/name_f] is pretty but sounds less classic than [name_m]Miles[/name_m]. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_u]Hadley[/name_u]? It is popular but has historic roots from [name_m]Hemingway[/name_m]‘s wife. From your list my favorites are [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f], and [name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]. I like pps’ suggestions of [name_f]Elodie[/name_f], [name_f]Lydia[/name_f], and [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f].

Other suggestions:
[name_f]Ada[/name_f]
[name_u]Adair[/name_u]
[name_f]Alina[/name_f]
[name_f]Annalise[/name_f]
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurelie[/name_f]
Daphne
[name_f]Eva[/name_f]
[name_u]Finley[/name_u]
[name_f]Jessa[/name_f]
[name_f]Layla[/name_f]
[name_f]Odile[/name_f]
Phoebe
[name_f]Tess[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]

[name_f]Olivia[/name_f] is very popular, so here are some O alternatives: [name_f]Olive[/name_f], [name_f]Olympia[/name_f], [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]

[name_f]Livia[/name_f] is a name very separate from [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] but quite similar sounding.

[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] is cute but gaining popularity, and [name_f]Ansley[/name_f] is cute, but is already a bit dated without being vintage. Some A alternatives are: [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] (it means gold!), [name_f]Alexandria[/name_f], [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f].

I personally find [name_f]Grace[/name_f] to be terribly overused, but it is pretty with a nice meaning. [name_f]Willow[/name_f] is very pretty and less traditional, but effectively moved into the mainstream. Are there other flowers or trees or nature that you find personally significant? I think [name_u]Dove[/name_u] is sweet, as doves signify peace, and is also quite unique.

Also thought of [name_u]Avery[/name_u] as an alternative to [name_f]Ava[/name_f]/[name_f]Ansley[/name_f].

Thank you for your help and suggestions. I’m hoping something will eventually click and will feel right.

[name_u]Avery[/name_u] is another name that I have always liked, but it seems so popular now. Other names that I liked in the past feel really dated. I always liked [name_u]Kendall[/name_u], [name_u]Avery[/name_u], [name_u]Skyler[/name_u], and [name_f]Ansley[/name_f] as my top choices, but now they first three feel very dated and I’m unsure of [name_f]Ansley[/name_f].

Someone suggested [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] which I do like, but it doesn’t seem girly enough. I originally loved it, but now I’m not sure that I do.

As a mom who still feels horrible name regret towards my son’s name, I totally understand your plight! That being said, I just named my daughter [name_f]Ansley[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and (so far) I love it! As soon as I heard it, it just felt ‘right’ and I never looked back. In a weird way, I think it works with my son’s name and it makes me feel better that I ended up with a sibset I love

Some other options that was on my list before I settled on [name_f]Ansley[/name_f]:
[name_f]Kelcey[/name_f]
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f]
[name_f]Brielle[/name_f]
[name_f]Malorie[/name_f]
[name_u]Delaney[/name_u]
[name_f]Lilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Coralie[/name_f]

I feel like my style may be a little trendier than yours ([name_m]Miles[/name_m] is definitely classier), but since we both love [name_f]Ansley[/name_f], I thought that I may suggest something that resonates.

Good luck!

Sounds like [name_f]Ansley[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] it is for you.

[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is sooo lovely.
