Although we do not know the gender of the baby we still need candidates for a girl if we have one. On another thread we were asking about Phryne and although we still love the name it seemed like too much trouble for us and the child.
I’m hoping to find another name he loves just as much (he’s more picky than me)
Names in consideration:
[name]Nell[/name]-We like its simplicity but we don’t love it
[name]Keturah[/name]-It feels a little heavy so my husband isn’t really sure about it
[name]Briony[/name]- We like it but it feels too close to [name]Romilly[/name]
I guess we are looking for names that feel light and happy but not too cutesy, names like [name]Romilly[/name] and [name]Artie[/name] (our other two children). Another ends in “ee” sound might work but it isn’t necessary.
The boy name we have settled on is [name]Kit[/name] [name]Orrin[/name] [name]Charles[/name]
I love [name]Romilly[/name] & [name]Artie[/name] and adore [name]Kit[/name]. I think [name]Nell[/name] is precious and the best choice with your kids’ names.
Good luck!
Here are some other suggestions I think would be great with [name]Romilly[/name] & [name]Artie[/name]:
[name]Agnes[/name]
[name]Hazel[/name]
[name]Flora[/name]
[name]Olive[/name]
[name]Daphne[/name], [name]Phoebe[/name], [name]Cecily[/name] (though personally I’d try to avoid another name that ends in ‘ee’ - too matchy for my tastes)
[name]Enid[/name]
[name]Edith[/name]
[name]Eliza[/name]
[name]Beatrix[/name]
[name]Scout[/name]
[name]Esther[/name]
[name]Sabine[/name]
[name]Juniper[/name]
[name]India[/name]
[name]Jessamine[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name]
[name]Lucille[/name]
[name]Marigold[/name]
[name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Primrose[/name]
[name]Tabitha[/name]
[name]Willa[/name]
[name]Agatha[/name]
[name]Cosima[/name]
The boy name you settled on is great!
[name]How[/name] on [name]Earth[/name] do you say Phryne? At first I thought it was [name]Fern[/name] with a P, but then I think it could be Fry-knee?
[name]Romilly[/name], [name]Artie[/name] and…
[name]Persephone[/name]
[name]Phaedra[/name]
[name]Freya[/name]
[name]Leonie[/name]
[name]Hermione[/name]
[name]Cleone[/name]
[name]Isis[/name]
[name]Zosia[/name]
[name]Odette[/name]
Ottolie
[name]Ottoline[/name]
[name]Nina[/name]
I wouldn’t pick anything ending with the -ee sound as Phryne does, and the names will sound sing-songy.
[name]Keturah[/name] is heavy, and too long; [name]Briony[/name] rhymes, and [name]Nell[/name] is simply way to plain to stand up to an exotic rarity like Phryne (or sister [name]Romilly[/name]).
[name]Blythe[/name] was a great suggestion and it would have my vote.
araminta @ We like [name]Tabitha[/name], [name]Flora[/name] and [name]Hazel[/name] from your list.
niteowl13 @ Phryne is pronounced Frie-nee, but the first syllable is quite soft with more emphasis on the second. I think my husband has found a new favorite with [name]Zosia[/name] though, I like it but will have to think more about it.
Ooh, I love [name]Nell[/name]! As alternatives, how about [name]Della[/name] or [name]Pearl[/name]?
Also, (sorry for any repeats!):
[name]Stacia[/name]
[name]Keziah[/name]
[name]Tirzah[/name]
[name]Fern[/name]
Oooh I think I really like [name]Della[/name], never heard of it before. [name]Will[/name] pitch it to my husband when he gets back from his mum’s place.
I’m glad you like [name]Della[/name]! It’s got a nice literary association too – it is the name of the sweet young wife in O’[name]Henry[/name]'s Gift of the [name]Magi[/name].
With [name]Romilly[/name] and [name]Artie[/name], I love [name]Zosia[/name]!! It is fitting but amps it up a notch. So many times, people settle on number three. Your other kids’ names are too special to do that. For that reason, [name]Nell[/name] is out for me. I [name]ADORE[/name] [name]Keturah[/name] but it isn’t quite right here, not as airy. [name]Briony[/name] fits but, yes, too much with [name]Romilly[/name].
I’m loving the suggestions, [name]Romilly[/name] and [name]Artie[/name] were the names we had settled on way before we got married so I guess thats why this time time we’re in a bit of a rut.
[name]New[/name] List:
[name]Zosia[/name]
[name]Della[/name]-I think we are leaning more towards this one, I really like the flapper image that comes with it.
