Still searching

Still looking for a girls name I like with R@fferty and Li@m. Thoughts on Cara? I like the Irish link and the meaning is sweet. A bit dated though? Pronunciation would be more like car than care in my accent.

[name_f]Cara[/name_f] goes lovely with your boy names, very on trend with [name_f]Cora[/name_f] & [name_f]Clara[/name_f] so wouldn’t be out of place or dated & the prn. is fine, I swear 99% of the UK prn. It that way, myself included lol :see_no_evil:

Some other [name_f]Irish[/name_f] suggestions that came to mind in case it helps
[name_f]Ciara[/name_f]

I like it a lot with L and R. I like the Celtic flavour the grouping brings out.

I would agree that it feels a little out of style but only slightly. The sound is still very fitting of a young child today. I would also say that [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] feels dated and yet [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] currently ranks #19 in Australia. [name_f]Cara[/name_f] feels a lot fresher than [name_f]Chloe[/name_f].

[name_f]Cara[/name_f] shares similar sounds with a few names in Australia’s top 100. There’s [name_f]Aria[/name_f] #29, [name_f]Zara[/name_f] #49, [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] #93 and [name_f]Lara[/name_f] #100. So [name_f]Cara[/name_f] would definitely fit in with current names being given to babies but also benefit from not being popular.

[name_f]Cara[/name_f] is lovely  sweet but strong and unexpected these days. I think it balances well between the unique R and more familiar L but also holds its own - distinctly [name_f]Irish[/name_f] but international too.

I think [name_f]Cara[/name_f] is lovely and works wonderfully with your boys. I also like the idea of [name_f]Ciara[/name_f] for a more obvious [name_f]Irish[/name_f] flair that feels similar to [name_f]Cara[/name_f].

[name_f]Cara[/name_f] is beautiful though I maybe biased as I know a lovely [name_f]Cara[/name_f]. I think it is a simple elegant but stong and striking name it is very international I think and I don’t think you’d ever regret the choice!

I love [name_f]Cara[/name_f]! It does feel a little different from [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] and [name_m]Liam[/name_m], tbh, but I think it could work! A few I do like with [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] and [name_m]Liam[/name_m]:

Neve/Niamh
Aislinn/Aisling
Maura/Moira
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]

[name_f]Fiadh[/name_f]
Aine/Anya

[name_f]Norah[/name_f]

Good luck!

@ashthedreamer thanks for the suggestions! We have quite an [name_f]Irish[/name_f] surname that isn’t necessarily very intuitive to spell or pronounce, so I need to make sure whatever first name we use doesn’t cause any extra issues for the poor kids haha

Ahh, that’s fair enough. There seems to be quite a few simply spelled [name_f]Irish[/name_f] boys’ names, but I was having trouble thinking of any for girls! I do love [name_f]Cara[/name_f] a lot… much as I don’t want her to, she does feel a little dated to me; then again, she’s one dated name I would absolutely use (she honors both my mom and grandmother, so she’s very special to me!).

I do think something like [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] or [name_f]Isla[/name_f] would also go well with [name_m]Liam[/name_m] and [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] and have Gaelic vibes… and are more simply spelled?

Good luck again!

@ashthedreamer girls really are a lot harder. I am absolutely smitten with [name_f]Caoimhe[/name_f] but I couldn’t do it to a kid. I’m also happy to go with a name with [name_f]Irish[/name_f] vibes, that’s not necessarily [name_f]Irish[/name_f]. I like [name_f]Molly[/name_f] a lot, and [name_f]Maggie[/name_f].
