Still struggling.....

We have 14 weeks to go so still have plenty of time to name our baby. However, we have a difficult surname to match it with so I want time to make sure the name works well together.

Names we like but have had to cross off are:
[name]Elijah[/name] (fav but the nn [name]Eli[/name] with our surname is terrible)
[name]Cohen[/name] (love but surname begins with C so don’t want C names)
[name]Roman[/name] (matched with surname is terrible)
[name]Lincoln[/name] (I like but hubby doesn’t).
[name]Jarvis[/name] (another fav of mine but hubby not 100%)

Surname is one syllable so looking for longer first name.

Any suggestions? I can’t believe this is so hard second time round!

What is the last name? If you don’t mind my asking.
I find it hard t o believe that a 1 syllable name that starts with C couldn’t match [name]Eli[/name]…

And who says nn has to match the last name? :stuck_out_tongue:
I think [name]Elijah[/name]'s a great name!

Sorry I deleted message as didn’t want surname on here, but now I realize it is throughout the post! Never mind.

Hey! You’ll definitely find a name, so don’t worry! Your son’s name is in the first grouping? I think every name there is really handsome, so I love your son’s name.

I was just thinking that if you like [name]Elijah[/name] and don’t want to go with another surname, you may also like [name]Isaiah[/name]. I can’t think of any jokes with your last name. Hmm…

Some other names you may like with your last name:

[name]Benjamin[/name] Cox
[name]Julian[/name] Cox
[name]William[/name] Cox (nn [name]Liam[/name])

[name]Do[/name] you think that some of the names you’ve found on this thread may possibly work for you?

Take care!

Thanks again [name]Jill[/name].
I very much like many of the names you suggested in the first group but don’t love, or if I do love them they are not suitable.
I’ll show you the one’s I love so you can get the idea of where I’m heading (although I’m sure I don’t know where I’m headed).

[name]LOVE[/name]:
[name]Archer[/name] (but not good with Cox)

[name]Donovan[/name] (but it’s my friends surname and I know hubby will never go for it for this reason)

[name]Griffin[/name] (this one is especially cute but is the name of my cousins baby)

[name]Harrison[/name]…my son’s name!!

I would like a name that is not too popular.

All postings welcome.

[name]Hi[/name]!

I used to know a [name]Sophie[/name] Cox! I think Cox is kind of a cool surname, like [name]Fox[/name], but I see how it can be a challenge…

[name]Harrison[/name] Cox is stunning! Let’s name his brother! (I’m using the name lists that come up when I search “[name]Harrison[/name]” in NB…)

PRESIDENTIAL
[name]Grant[/name] Cox - Pair it with a long middle name and you’re golden!
[name]Jackson[/name] Cox - But, [name]Jack[/name] Cox isn’t so good. [name]Jacky[/name] Cox? Oh, no.
[name]Lincoln[/name] Cox - Somehow, the [name]Link[/name] nickname is lost on Cox…
[name]Taylor[/name] Cox - Well, this one sounds nice!

MUSICAL
[name]Bowie[/name] Cox - Does this sound like and innuendo?
[name]Crosby[/name] Cox - Alliteration! Too much?
[name]Donovan[/name] Cox - Sounds stately, like his brother!
[name]Lennon[/name] Cox - Sort of cool, right?
[name]Presley[/name] Cox - I love this! Seriously! But, it is a bit girlish, I guess.
[name]Sullivan[/name] Cox - With [name]Harrison[/name]? Divine…

YUPSTER
[name]Finn[/name] ([name]Finley[/name]) Cox - This could work! [name]Even[/name] [name]Finn[/name] Cox isn’t bad!
[name]Gabriel[/name] Cox - I think this sounds nice…
[name]Nathaniel[/name] Cox - [name]Nate[/name] Cox? I love this one!
[name]Owen[/name] Cox - Hmm. Good or bad? I love [name]Owen[/name], though!
[name]Quentin[/name] Cox - Pretty nice name, eh?
[name]Wyatt[/name] Cox - I love [name]Wyatt[/name]! Such a fun name!

Now, I wanted to come suggest a bunch of -er names, but most of them sounded, well, wrong. [name]Tucker[/name] Cox, [name]Walker[/name] Cox, [name]Wilder[/name] Cox, [name]Parker[/name] Cox? Am I imagining things? I want to love [name]Parker[/name] with [name]Harrison[/name], but is Cox throwing it off?

Anyway, hopefully something here will help you! Good luck!

[name]Lemon[/name]

[name]Hi[/name]! You have a [name]Harrison[/name]? I love your son’s name! Darn…Too bad about [name]Donovan[/name]! Because you liked [name]Griffin[/name], you may also like [name]Finnian[/name]. (I can’t think of any teasing there…)

Another name you may like is [name]Elliot[/name] Cox (nn [name]Leo[/name] instead of [name]Eli[/name]).

Take care!

[name]Hi[/name], I love your son’s name, [name]Harrison[/name] Cox. I think a longer first name ( like [name]Harrison[/name]) is great with a short, hard sounding last name. PLus with a longer first name you can get great nicknames out of it. I really like [name]Donovan[/name], also what [name]Dashiell[/name]? [name]Montgomery[/name] comes to mind, [name]Monty[/name] as a nn? [name]How[/name] about [name]Finnigan[/name], [name]Emerson[/name], [name]Sawyer[/name], [name]Landon[/name], [name]Bennett[/name]…? Good luck to you!

[name]Lemon[/name] - thank you for your “cool” comment regarding our surname. I like it too hence I changed my name when I got married. My husband who grew up with this name fortunately informs me he never had much trouble with it. Let’s hope my children don’t either!!
I [name]LOVE[/name] your suggestion of [name]Lennon[/name]! But won’t use it as I will sound like a Beatles fanatic. I had actually run [name]Lennox[/name] by my husband a while ago but he said no because of the [name]Lennox[/name] [name]Lewis[/name] connection.

[name]Jill[/name] - once again you come up with a lovely name with [name]Finnian[/name] but I have a close friend who is also pregnant and she is thinking of using [name]Finn[/name] or [name]Flynn[/name].

Boysmom2 - I agree that a longer first name will sound best with Cox. Anything over two syllables will be fine with me.

Thanks for sharing your ideas.
