Still stuck and considering other names....help!

DH and I have been throwing around names for a couple of months now. We want to honor a relative in either the first or middle name (or both if we can agree on it and both love it). We pretty much settled on [name]Georgia[/name] [name]Marian[/name] (I want a classic name and DH wants more modern/cutesy/boyish) hence nn [name]Georgie[/name]. The mn [name]Marian[/name] would honor DH’s grandmother [name]Miriam[/name] as well as my great aunt [name]Marion[/name] whom I am very close with.

We both loved the name until DH started to have second thoughts. He is now throwing out names like [name]Delaney[/name] and [name]Jaime[/name]. I am totally lost! I do quite like the nn [name]Lainey[/name] for [name]Delaney[/name], but I just can’t settle on the name itself. I don’t see it aging as well as a classic name like [name]Georgia[/name]. I have also mentioned the name [name]Adeline[/name]. It has similar sounds as [name]Delaney[/name], but it much more my style. The only problem I have is that neither DH or I like the nn [name]Addy[/name] at all.

I recently came upon the name [name]Adelaine[/name], but am unsure if this is even a “real” name. Although this wouldn’t be a problem for many people, I would like to give my daughter a name with history and meaning. I do love how I would be able to use the nn [name]Lainey[/name] though.

As you can see…we are all over the place!! We would like to honor at least one of these relatives in either the first or middle name (probably the middle)- [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Miriam[/name], [name]Dolores[/name], [name]Marion[/name]

PLEASE HELP!!!

I’ve just googled it and nothing comes up for [name]Adelaine[/name] and to be honest she will have to put up with a lifetime of telling people it’s not [name]Adelaide[/name], [name]Adeline[/name], [name]Adele[/name] etc.

If [name]Lainey[/name] is the nickname you want I suggest going with [name]Delaney[/name], [name]Melanie[/name], [name]Elena[/name] (E-lay-nuh), [name]Alaina[/name], [name]Madelaine[/name], [name]Milena[/name] (Mi-lay-nuh), [name]Helena[/name], [name]Linnea[/name] (a stretch but could work).

I like [name]Adelaine[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
I don’t know if [name]Adelaine[/name] is a made up name or not, but it’s definitely a variation of all the [name]Adele[/name] names… [name]Adelaide[/name], [name]Adeline[/name], etc. If it helps, you’re not the first one to think of this name. Here’s more info: Nickelodeon Parents | Printables, coloring pages, recipes, crafts, and more from your child’s favorite Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. shows. apparently there are about 40 other people named [name]Adelaine[/name] in the world.
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Marian[/name] is a lovely name too. You seem to have good name sense, so whatever you choose will be great.

[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Marian[/name] has a great blend of spunk and vintage flair. I like the sweet [name]Adeline[/name] as well. [name]Adelaine[/name] is ok but does have a made up look to it. [name]Delaney[/name] is a trendy surname so it’s not really my style. Have you considered [name]Adelaide[/name] nn [name]Lainey[/name]?

I wrote about [name]Adelaine[/name] in my old blog - I saw it on a 13th century census record. It’s a form of [name]Adelaide[/name].

[name]How[/name] about [name]Alaina[/name]. It is modern and boyish and you can use [name]Lainey[/name] as a nn?

i love adalaide and adeline… i agree that adalaine will force her to correct people her whole life. for lainey as a nickname i think madeline is a nice choice

I think [name]Georgia[/name] is wonderful!

I much prefer it over [name]Delaney[/name]. [name]Elena[/name] could work as a way to get to [name]Lainey[/name].

Oh your original name is soooo lovely. Your middle name mash-up is perfect, and [name]Georgia[/name] is just timeless. It’s so strong and dignified, yet it can also sound friendly-casual and flirty-peachy.
I think of [name]Delaney[/name] and [name]Jaime[/name] as modern unisex names, like [name]Ashley[/name] for a girl or [name]Avery[/name]… Perfectly fine and even kinda spunky, but nowhere near as timeless, beautiful, versatile as [name]Georgia[/name]. If your husband is fixated on finding a zippy nickname, why not [name]Gigi[/name]? [name]Georgie[/name] is also adorable.
This is awful of me, but the [name]Adelaide[/name]/[name]Adelaine[/name] names make me think (simultaneously) of an addict addled on Adderol, and of an old lady embroidering handkerchiefs. Still, plenty of people like those names…
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Marian[/name]! Perfect! Now go listen to [name]Ray[/name] [name]Charles[/name] or [name]Willie[/name] [name]Nelson[/name] sing “[name]Georgia[/name] on My Mind”

The best advice possible for anyone waffling over the lovely [name]Georgia[/name]!

The best possible advice for anyone waffling over the lovely [name]Georgia[/name]. Go do as emmabobemma says!

Thanks everyone! [name]Georgia[/name] will always be at the top of my list whether we end up using it or not. What are thoughts on [name]Adaline[/name] pronounced Ay-duh-line nn [name]Ada[/name]?

I personally say stick with [name]Georgia[/name]. If you want to use [name]Lainey[/name], I say use it. You don’t have to have a more formal name.

If you like [name]Adeline[/name] but not [name]Addy[/name] you could always use the nn [name]Lina[/name]. =]

[name]Adelaide[/name]/[name]Adeline[/name]/[name]Adaline[/name]/Adalaine. Well, I actually like [name]Adelaide[/name]. My problem with the names is that in the U.S., there will always be confusion about 1)which name is being used and 2) whether it’s spelled [name]Ada[/name]- or [name]Ade[/name]-.

If you like [name]Ada[/name], why not just that? I think it’s a fine name…

Your right that [name]Ada[/name] is a completely fine and acceptable name, but I don’t love it as a full name. I think it would make a really cute NN but I want a full name with a little more to it.
