Still thinking about Eliza! And more questions about honor names! 🌼

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone!

I hope you don’t mind, but I’d just like to talk some more about how much I love the name [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and ask a few related questions! [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] just brings me so much joy, and puts the biggest smile on my face. I think it is a name I would use and love even if my late maternal grandmother’s middle name was not [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. I am hoping to honor her in the future with a daughter’s name. I have been told here that it’s OK to use the name [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] despite [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] also being my middle name. I love the fact that using [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] gives my future daughter something that is entirely her own while still being connected to my grandma.

Here is where the questions come in! I know [name_u]Ive[/name_u] asked this one before, but which name is your favorite way to honor her? (Her name was [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], but I also have some other options that I love.)

[name_f]Molly[/name_f]
[name_f]Maren[/name_f]
[name_f]Mara[/name_f]
[name_f]Marisol[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Faith[/name_f] (her [name_u]Christian[/name_u] faith and her family were the most important things in her life)
[name_f]Sophia[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] (she embodied the meaning of Sophia)
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] or [name_f]Evie[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], or [name_f]Gracie[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Sunday[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_u]Frankie[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] +
Using the initials M. E. (I like [name_f]Mila[/name_f] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] and [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f]. Any other ideas?)

[name_f]My[/name_f] other question is: i want to focus on honoring my parents, grandparents, and potentially my brother with names. However, I love the name [name_f]Grace[/name_f] (along with [name_f]Gracie[/name_f] and Anna). I have an aunt whose middle name is [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and one whose name is [name_f]Kathie[/name_f]. (Full name Ma.ry K@therine). Could I get away with using [name_f]Grace[/name_f] or [name_f]Kate[/name_f] as part of a daughter’s name in this situation? I think my family might mention either a couple of times and that would be it.

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite combinations with [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_f]Kate[/name_f] are:

[name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Molly[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]
[name_f]Gracie[/name_f] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_u]Charlie[/name_u] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] +
[name_u]Charlie[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]

Any feedback or suggestions you can offer would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you so much, I know there is quite a bit here!

:butterfly::white_heart:

That’s lovely to read!! It sounds just right for you

In terms of your honours, my favourites are:

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] → just makes sense!

[name_f]Maren[/name_f] → warm and charming, but distinctive too

[name_f]Faith[/name_f] → gentle but powerful - I like how it shares the ending of Elizabeth too

[name_u]Frankie[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] → I love [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] - so sassy and sweet

Using the initials - [name_f]Maia[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_u]Esme[/name_u] came to mind.

[name_u]Meredith[/name_u] also came to mind - combining sounds of [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and the end of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]

[name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_f]Kate[/name_f] are such popular middle names, I think this is totally fine. I probably wouldn’t even think they were honours - especially with [name_f]Kate[/name_f]

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] is gorgeous! [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is sparky, balanced and bright!

If I could play around with them a little, I’d consider:

[name_f]Gracie[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Gracie[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Molly[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]

@Greyblue Thank you so much! Like you, I love Eliza, Maren, and Faith. If I end up only having one daughter, I’ve thought about using Eliza Daisy or Eliza Margot to honor both my grandma and my mom. I also think Frankie Faith is adorable, but is that too much of the f sound?

I really don’t see Grace and Kate as honors either, but I could see where they would be viewed that way, and I wasn’t sure.

I really love your suggestions of Molly, Grace, Gracie Violet, and Gracie Elizabeth too!

I think Eliza and Grace or Gracie sound so pretty together. They are definitely in my top contenders right now. Grace and Gracie really stand out to me as first names too, but I also love them as middles.

Charlie Grace just makes me happy!

ETA: I love Maia Evangeline too! Do you think if we have a new baby My.la in the family it would work? I know I shouldn’t care so much about extended family’s thoughts. I will probably never meet (or at least rarely see) My.la, and I really don’t think it would bother her dad (my cousin).

Thank you again!

[name_u]Love[/name_u] those!

I think it sounds fun! Both names are solid enough that it doesn’t sound too gimmicky.

I think since they’re extended family who you might never meet with, it should be fine

@Greyblue Thank you so much! [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] [name_f]Faith[/name_f] is definitely on the list. I agree that it’s a strong, but fun name without being over the top. The other think I just thought of with My.la and [name_f]Maia[/name_f] or [name_f]Maya[/name_f] is the age difference. Children are a few years down the road for me. If I were expecting now or my child had just been born a few months after my cousin and his girlfriend’s, it might be a no.

Thank you again!

Clearly [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] is perfect you! I also love that [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is also your middle name along with your grandmother’s tying so many generations! It’s perfect!

Looking at your other names to honour your grandmother I love

[name_f]Maren[/name_f] ~ she’s elegant, stylish and really polished. A lovely option.

[name_f]Mara[/name_f] ~ a bright European choice that feels spunky and happy

[name_f]Marisol[/name_f] ~ I love this name she’s so sparkly and has a pretty ballerina feel

[name_f]Faith[/name_f] ~ I’m a huge fan of [name_f]Faith[/name_f] she’s a lovely virtue name that feels warm and wholesome.

[name_f]Sunday[/name_f] ~ I think she’s so bright with a lovely connection to your Grandmother’s religion.

I have to say your whole list is beautiful but I do not feel they have that exact connection too your Grandmother’s name whereas the above feel very connected.

Concerning names with the same initials some other ideas could be

[name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Maple[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]

Moving away from [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] in the middle name slot

[name_f]Melody[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Marianne[/name_f] [name_f]Emma[/name_f]
[name_f]Miriam[/name_f] [name_f]Edith[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_u]Marie[/name_u] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]

Yes you can definitely get away with using [name_f]Grace[/name_f]! Names are often repeated through families it’s different generations so should be fine.

From the [name_f]Grace[/name_f] + [name_f]Kate[/name_f] combinations I love

[name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps :sparkles:

@tori101 Thank you so much! I’m actually at least the third generation to have [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] as my middle name. [name_f]My[/name_f] aunt was named after my grandmother first, so I think it would be sweet to use a form of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. Most of my cousins have children by now, and I’d be surprised if anyone who doesn’t uses it. Although I wouldn’t be deterred from using it if they did, because u love that I shared that with her!

From your suggestions, I love:

[name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] +
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] the most!

These would also work to honor my mom, which is something I’d like to do too. Her first name is [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]. She goes by her middle name instead, but doesn’t like either name. I’ve heard her mention wishing she could have been [name_f]Margot[/name_f] or [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] instead. [name_f]My[/name_f] dad occasionally calls her [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] so I love [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] for that reason. I think at this point, she feels that too many people know her by her middle name, so it would be complicated to change things now. I really wish she liked her name. I’m trying hard to use honors that I think people I love might like!

And I adore [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] so much!

Thank you again!

Ahhh [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is beautiful and I love that she honours your mum! You’ve got to add this one to the list :bouquet:

@tori101 I know! :face_holding_back_tears::heart: I definitely will. I would also do [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], but it might be weird to since only my dad calls her [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]. But I love [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] so much too!

Thank you again!
