An updated list from my earlier post, we have a boy, [name]Shea[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name] and a girl, [name]Scout[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name] already and are waiting on baby 3. We have struck off a few and added a few. [name]Feel[/name] fairly certain middle names will be [name]Jameson[/name] or [name]James[/name] for a boy and waverly for a girl. Thoughts and feedback always welcome and appreciated.
Girl list
[name]Drew[/name]
[name]Phoebe[/name]
[name]Stella[/name]
[name]Sadie[/name]
[name]Wynn[/name]
Boy list
[name]Sullivan[/name] ([name]Sully[/name])
[name]Nate[/name]
[name]Drew[/name]
[name]Cash[/name]
I love [name]Waverly[/name]! I wanted [name]Waverly[/name] [name]Winter[/name] for a girl but husband will only consider [name]Waverly[/name] as a middle name. Am really attracted to [name]Drew[/name] for a girl but think it needs to be double barrelled name so it’s obvious it’s a girl, like [name]Drew[/name] [name]Marie[/name] or [name]Drew[/name] [name]Lucille[/name], then the middle name of [name]Waverly[/name]…does that make sense?
[name]Waverly[/name] [name]Winter[/name] is a guilty pleasure of mine! Can’t use it as me and my boyfriend’s last names are very W-heavy.
[name]Drew[/name] is pretty unisex I think, I prefer it on a boy but I think [name]Drew[/name] [name]Waverly[/name] would be cute too, as the w-sound is different.
My husband and I picked the name [name]Stella[/name] in 2000 when it was ranked in the 900s. By the time we started trying to have a baby six years later, it was in the 400s. Our daughter [name]Stella[/name] was born in 2008, and since then, [name]Tori[/name] Spelling, [name]Ellen[/name] [name]Pompeo[/name], [name]Matt[/name] [name]Damon[/name] and multiple other celebrities have named their daughters [name]Stella[/name]. The name is now ranked #73. It’s a great name but it is now EVERYWHERE.
So then if I went more off the beaten path and stuck with [name]Drew[/name] for a girl, what names could I put with [name]Drew[/name] as a double first name so schools, teams and government will know, “hey, this is a little girl!”?
[name]Drew[/name]-- with the middle name [name]Waverly[/name], this is simply too unisex. Unfortunately there aren’t any common female names that can be abbreviated or nicknamed [name]Drew[/name].
[name]Phoebe[/name]- this is a great choice-- it’s uncommon, and even though it’s much much more classic than her sister’s name [name]Scout[/name], it has a very plucky and sunny feel that will mesh well. [name]Phoebe[/name] [name]Waverly[/name] has a fun flow; the vowels at the end of each word are very slightly different so it doesn’t rhyme exactly.
[name]Stella[/name]- if you’re happy to continue the S trend, I think this is your best pick. [name]Stella[/name] [name]Waverly[/name] sounds perfect (the Ls subtly reinforce each other), and even though the name is being given frequently, it still sounds fresh.
[name]Sadie[/name]- [name]Sadie[/name] is a good style match for sister [name]Scout[/name], but it’s a nickname (for [name]Sarah[/name]) rather than a full given name, and I’d prefer [name]Stella[/name] or [name]Phoebe[/name] since I think they’ll work better for a grown woman.
[name]Wynn[/name]- this is actually the masculine spelling; the feminine spelling has an e ([name]Wynne[/name]). I actually quite like [name]Wynne[/name] [name]Waverly[/name]-- it’s very unexpected, and I like the alliteration. This is actually my favorite suggestion.
Boy list
[name]Sullivan[/name] ([name]Sully[/name]) - adorable nickname; a bit longer than his siblings’ names but it’s an Irish surname like [name]Shea[/name], and balances well with [name]Scarlett[/name].
[name]Nate[/name]- not complete enough as a given name. Much prefer [name]Nathan[/name] or [name]Nathaniel[/name]. (You could also get there from [name]Jonathan[/name], [name]Donato[/name], [name]Ignatius[/name] or [name]Renato[/name], but I’m not sure these names are your style). [name]Nathaniel[/name] [name]James[/name] is a very handsome name.
[name]Drew[/name]- works well on a boy. [name]Drew[/name] [name]Jameson[/name] sounds great, though I slightly prefer the more formal [name]Andrew[/name] [name]James[/name] as I think it will work better for him throughout his life.
[name]Cash[/name]- don’t care for [name]Cash[/name]. I wouldn’t want to name a child “money.” Now, [name]Nash[/name] would really hit the right notes for your family-- what do you think of [name]Nash[/name] [name]Jameson[/name]?
[name]Stella[/name] [name]Waverly[/name] would work best but [name]Stella[/name] is very feminine next to [name]Scout[/name]. [name]Drew[/name] would be a better style “match” with [name]Scout[/name] but [name]Drew[/name] [name]Waverly[/name] is a bit too unisex. I don’t think [name]Phoebe[/name] [name]Waverly[/name], [name]Sadie[/name] [name]Waverly[/name] or [name]Wynn[/name] [name]Waverly[/name] flow well. What about [name]Sloane[/name], [name]Greer[/name], [name]Piper[/name], [name]Blythe[/name], [name]Brynn[/name], [name]Blair[/name], [name]Brooke[/name], [name]Gwen[/name], [name]Faye[/name] or [name]Reese[/name]?
[name]Sullivan[/name] [name]James[/name] would be my pick for a boy. [name]Nate[/name] [name]Jameson[/name] or [name]Drew[/name] [name]Jameson[/name] would be ok too. I don’t care for [name]Cash[/name]. Have you considered [name]Will[/name], [name]Tate[/name], [name]Reid[/name], [name]Bryce[/name], [name]Jude[/name], [name]Ross[/name], [name]Heath[/name] or [name]Vaughn[/name]?
I love [name]Sullivan[/name] [name]James[/name] from your boys’ list! [name]Shea[/name], [name]Scout[/name], and [name]Sullivan[/name]/[name]Sully[/name] are adorable together. I like the idea of continuing the “S” names for a girl, so I think [name]Sadie[/name] would be my first pick, but I really like [name]Phoebe[/name] [name]Waverly[/name], too. I love @mischa’s suggestion of [name]Sloane[/name] [name]Waverly[/name].
I am not a huge fan of [name]Cash[/name] but it is my husbands favourite. [name]Drew[/name] is clearly unisex, but as we have two children already with unisex names already so that doesn’t concern us too much. [name]Nash[/name] isn’t on the table because husband doesn’t care for it! He is the picky one. I may sound like a broken record, but can we feminize [name]Drew[/name] at all? I love [name]Stella[/name], but the popularity is getting too much for me to feel secure after giving our first two children unusual names
Girls Side: I love [name]Waverly[/name]. Thoughts on combos below.
[name]Drew[/name] [name]Waverly[/name] - [name]Both[/name] are cute but to me it lacks grown up appeal and the double - “w” mushes together to much. [name]How[/name] about [name]Waverly[/name] [name]Drew[/name]?
[name]Phoebe[/name] [name]Waverly[/name] - [name]Both[/name] names are on my love list but if feels a little laborious to say out loud.
[name]Stella[/name] [name]Waverly[/name] - Somehow I just hear “Stellar Wave dude!”
[name]Sadie[/name] [name]Waverly[/name] - [name]Sadie[/name] is nms. But this would be my first choice as I think it flows best.
[name]Wynn[/name] [name]Waverly[/name] - Sound like a superhero. I like it. Would be my second choice.
Boy list:
[name]Sullivan[/name] ([name]Sully[/name]) [name]James[/name]/[name]Jameson[/name] - I prefer [name]Ivan[/name] or [name]Van[/name] as a nn for [name]Sullivan[/name] I find [name]Sully[/name] (while I love Mosters Inc) a little too close to Sullen. And then I hear Sullen [name]James[/name] which I wouldn’t want for my kid. [name]Sullivan[/name] [name]James[/name] however is an amazing combo ([name]Jameson[/name] make it too wordy). [name]Sullivan[/name] [name]James[/name] would be my first pick.
[name]Nate[/name] [name]James[/name]/[name]Jameson[/name] - I actually have a friend called N@te J@mer$0n (FN & LN) so [name]Nate[/name] [name]Jameson[/name] sounds very familiar to me and I like it. [name]Nate[/name] [name]James[/name] feels a little abrupt.
[name]Drew[/name] [name]James[/name]/[name]Jameson[/name] - [name]Drew[/name] [name]Jameson[/name] is a great combo and would be on my number two choice.
[name]Cash[/name] [name]James[/name]/[name]Jameson[/name] - [name]Cash[/name] is mms but [name]Cash[/name] [name]James[/name] is cool.
I knew a woman of [name]East[/name] [name]Indian[/name] origin who spelled her name [name]Dru[/name] but it may have been short for a Hindu name (or I guess it could be short for [name]Drusilla[/name]). I don’t think [name]Drew[/name] needs to be “feminized”. If you choose this name, it wouldn’t matter if the baby was male or female? [name]Just[/name] the mn would change. Pressure is off!
But with [name]Drew[/name] can I double first name? Is [name]Drew[/name]-[name]Elizabeth[/name] or [name]Drew[/name]-[name]Madeleine[/name] viable options to tell the world this is our little girl? Then keep Wavery as a middle name? I am really loving the support for [name]Sullivan[/name] [name]James[/name] and I feel that is our top contender for a boy, husband just added [name]Holden[/name] to the mix. Does this fit with [name]Shea[/name] and [name]Scout[/name]?
[name]Sullivan[/name] [name]James[/name] is my favorite. [name]Holden[/name] is nice, but I love [name]Sullivan[/name] more. As for girls, [name]How[/name] about [name]Drew[/name]-[name]Anne[/name] [name]Waverly[/name]?
[name]Love[/name] [name]Waverly[/name] as a first or middle name. And [name]Jameson[/name]/[name]James[/name] are great choices! Our boy MN would be [name]James[/name] (DH’s first name). Here’s my feedback:
Girl list
[name]Drew[/name] - Agree w/ PP, too unisex with “[name]Waverly[/name]” as MN
[name]Phoebe[/name] - I don’t like the E & E sounds. Our last name ends in the E sound, so I steer clear of any first name ending in E
[name]Stella[/name] - [name]LOVE[/name] this name, but too popular now
[name]Sadie[/name] - Again the E issue
[name]Wynn[/name] - Kind of like this…not a fan of the WW
I would do [name]Waverly[/name] as a first name & find a new MN!
Boy list
[name]Sullivan[/name] ([name]Sully[/name]) - [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name] [name]James[/name] (not a fan of [name]Sully[/name])
[name]Nate[/name] - NMS
[name]Drew[/name] - This would be good w/ [name]Jameson[/name]
[name]Cash[/name] - [name]Love[/name] this, but not w/ [name]James[/name] or [name]Jameson[/name]
