Stories of birth certificate name mishaps?

[name_f]My[/name_f] mother-in-law was high on painkillers after giving birth to my wife’s second eldest sister [name_f][/name_f]- let’s name her, [name_m]Bailey[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- now when [name_m]Bailey[/name_m] turned 16, she was applying for her learner’s permit and needed to bring a copy of her birth certificate with her. It’s only then that she realized her name on her birth certificate was [name_f][/name_f]- let’s say, [name_f]Sara[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- but my wife’s third eldest sister (the child after Bailey) was named [name_f]Sara[/name_f]! Both were spelled differently, but for the first 16 years of her life, she was named the same name as her younger sister! Hilarious! She had to legally change it to “Bailey” as that’s what everyone called her by, family, friends, etc. Such a funny story!

[name_f]My[/name_f] great-grandfather wanted to give his daughter, my grandmother, the middle name [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] after his mother, but misspelled it on the birth certificate as [name_f]Georgeina[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] grandmother legally changed it to the “proper” spelling when she was a young adult, but changed it back because she felt bad shortly after. One of my favourite little family stories!

Also reading that so many parents kept the mishap in these comments is crazy, I could never, lol

[name_f]My[/name_f] auntie [name_f]Ann[/name_f] always wanted to be [name_f]Anne[/name_f] (not Ann)… well she recently found out that in fact her name was actually put down as [name_f]Anne[/name_f] on her birth certificate!
